im doing the same thing right now, my dash is gone and so is the interior except the carpet which im doing after i watch scarface. Talk about a pain in the ***. There's six bolts to loosen before removing the dash. I would get the Haynes manual if I were you, it makes it easier.

Downloading the FSM might make it even easier than the Haynes manual....

You want to lose weight? Lose the P/S and the A/C. You dont need that ****. And if you say you do than dont even waste time messin up your car by taking the carpet out.

actually its not really a lose weight plan that I am doing. the car is dusty as ****. hair every where. no point in keeping the interior. you should see the dust build up in the door vents. I will take some pics and gross you guys out.

my FC3S is on a diet atm.

the entire interior is out while the car is being painted.

rear seat is gone, lightweight racing seats are in, all new trim for the rear.. not heavy carpet. and wiring harness has been minimised as I run Microtech and don't need alot of the factory wiring.
then there is carbon bonnet, and FRP nosecone.

as for gutting it.. I'd start by popping out your front seats. then you rear seat.. all your trim panels, then dash.

the wiring is all clipped so if you label everything in a code that you understand you'll be fine.

I'm doing the same cuz the old owner had a battery accidnet so gotta replace everything. I can tell u its a pain in the *** to take the dash and front carpet out. The middle box thingy for the heater is the hardest. Oh anyways, i would start by takin everything out the back/hatch. Examples, storage bin, speakers, spare tire, all sound dampering. then u move to the front.

You can get the FSM here

http://www.fc3s.org/how_tos/manuals/88_fsm.html

it will make it much easier and faster to get the interior out.

The only weight reduction I have planned is to remove the tar under the carpet and the back seat. I'm still not 100% sure I want to take out the back seat tho.

I removed over 15kg of body deadener from under the carpet..
so it's not a bad place to start.. will be interesting to hear it when the car runs again..

atm my car had no interior/engine/rear end/paint.

it's a sad state of affairs but I guess it's what it takes sometimes..

I had no trouble with the dash.. nor the wiring harness which has been trimmed quite substantially..

due to the installation of a microtech LTX12 ECU.

are there any otehr idea's on how I can save weight in my car???

no power steer/AC.

If you're going hardcore, gut the inside of the doors.
