gutting my converter

gutting my converter

Yeah well ive been looking for cheap ways to find extra hp in my car... is gutting the catalyic converter something i should try? i have a few extra ones should I mess it up too bad.. but will it really improve the hp?

86 grey n/a
no mods as of yet
(got it yesterday)

gutting will definitly give you more HP

However sine you have an 86 do not gut your main cat. You have 3 cats on the car. 2 pre-cats and a main cat. just gut the 2 precats. if you gut the main cat your 5th&6th ports in your engine will not work. They work off backpressure. It takes a bit of typing to explain, but trust me.

Just gut the 2 pre cats and NOT your main cat.

Supergoat is right. I just gutted my 2 pre-cats. I did feel a little difference. My car feels a little more responsive when I step on the gas.

aight just outta curiousity... since im still really actually gettin into rx-7s... cars even... how would one go about guttin the pre-cats?... i kno i cant do it since i live in one of those private apartment communities.. but i just need a how-to so that when i find some space (most likely my dad's place).. i can go ahead n do so.
