gut cats or get strait pipes?

When i bought my 87TII it had brand new cats and pipe on it, it sounds like a bitch i can hardly hear it, anyways im a poor man and i wasnt sure weather i should gut the cats or but buy some strait 3inch pipes.Please respond with your ideas and thoughts

Get an exhaust shop to replace the cats with some pipe. Gutted cats cause massive turbulence which is nearly as restrictive as before.

A straight through 3" system will kick your a$$!!! Just be sure to get a FCD and make sure your fuel pump is getting the right amount of voltage car first. I just put one on and it it so far the best thing to do with a stock setup.
