Guages...

I'm getting ready to upgrade fuel, and install guages to see how my car runs. I need a boost guage, EGT, and possibly A/F guage (which should negate the EGT, right?). I'm wondering what guages you modded 7 owners have used with good results, as well as any other information you'd like to share. Also, are there any other guages that justify the cost, considering I'm going AVC-R/S-AFC very shortly? Thanks for the info =),

Personally I recommend the A'PEXi gauges, but they are quite expensive. I currently have a combo of A'PEXi and Autometer gauges, but I am eliminating the Autometer ones as I come across money to do so. The autometer ones just aren't as acurate as the higher quality Jananese ones. For example, show me ONE autometer boost gauge that reads the same for "0" each time to car is turned off. You can't. They have a whole area which is supposed to be "0"! The HKS, GReedy and A'PEXi ones all have "0" set to just that..."0" When the gauge is not in use, it rests at "0" and not low or high "0" As far as the costs are involved, the HKS or GReedy ones seem to be the best as far as quality combined with price. They are acurate and don't cost as much as the A'PEXi ones. I personally like the A'PEXi ones due to their EL (Electro Luminescence) lighting.
As far as "I just need something better than stock to see what the car is doing" ...then get autometer.
Having an A/F gauge does not mean you don't need an EGT gauge. They should be used together to determine your richness or leanness. A good list of gauges in my opinion of order on a TII are...
Boost
Water temp
A/F ratio
Oil Temp
Oil pressure
EGT
Hope that helps some.

I love my Greddy boost and A/F gauges. The peak hold function is very usefull on the boost gauge and I understand these gauges can even be set up for data logging (though I don't know if Greddy sells the associated parts here.) I would not hesitate to buy another Greddy product, even at their inflated prices: you truly get what you pay for.
