Exclamation 82 Rx-7 been sitting for a year or two...

Hey guys, I have owned many vehicles, but this is my first mazda. I bought it off a guy for $250 bones, good deal, full aftermarket exhaust, aftermarket fuel pump(i think, it is very loud), holly fuel pressure regulator.. a few nice guages... k&n air filter, needs a tune up and some tlc. was his "parts car" but he never touched it... has 200,000kms and seemed to run not too bad, it does have half a tank of shitty gas tho.... and i tried starting it a few more times and she will try to go at first, then not go at all.... i'm thinkin its the old *** gas, i do have spark.... i already put fuel treatment in the tank and used carb cleaner, still no luck... if i empty the tank and fill with premium and have a freshly charged battery, and possibly use some quick start, it should damn well go I do believe, just I dont know anything about rotary engines yet so I'm lookin for some feedback...

any help would be appreciated....

avoid using the starting fluid. drain the tank and change the filter. hopefully that will be enough.. you might also put in some marvle mystery oil down the intake and spin it over, then let it sit over night just to make sure the seals are not sticking. some people use atf or seafoam as well. all work well, and all will smoke while they burn off. but that is normal. g/l

Sounds like a clogged filter to me. Change that and the gas for some more 87 octane. Do not waste your money on anything more than that. Check that your fuel pressure is at 2PSI. I have a Holley regulator that is constantly changing pressure on me so you'll have to constantly check it. When you put the fresh gas in get down to about a quarter tank then put a bottle of Seafoam through it. You should find that at NAPA or Carquest. Afterwards drive the **** out of it until your gas light comes on. that should help clean the engine out.

Plugs can be ordered from online suppliers. (http://www.sparkplugs.com/) Buy NGK's, (it cost me USD25 for a set.)

Have you changed the fuel filter out or is it possible you are overloading the pump?

Yeah I changed the fuel filter, I took a look at the pump, looks pretty damn old... but the car runs great... so should I just leave it? I wouldn't want it to fail on me somewhere... And what if I don't want to wait for plugs off the net.? I can't locate them anywhere locally?

Probably a Carter fuel pump. Those things are so loud you have to get bigger speakers just to hear the stereo.
