Hi!

Witch turbo kit is better Himni racing or a-spec tuning?
Any others?

My car is a 1989 S4 turbo2.

That is the first time I have seen the Himin kit. Not a bad choice. However, the GT35R turbine housing from garrett is not divided as they make it out to be, kinda of tricky wording they are using. The 1.06 from garrett is an open volute housing. This will hurt spool. It would be better off to get a divided turbine housing.

Check out these guys; www.turblown.net

They offer several Gt35R kits with divided turbine housings, stageV 1.0, and P trim Gt35Rs.
Also, their standard size downpipe is 3.5", their manifolds are either 304L or 321SS, they hard line all of their cooling lines, just plain higher quality stuff.

Here is an example from years ago

I'v got a question regarding 35R kit also. Can you retain airpump with this kit? Guess variables being snail size and design of the manifold, but generally speaking is the airpump coexistence possible?

only if you relocate it, but having a smog pump defeats the purpose unless you somehow are still trying to keep the emissions legal, in which case yes you can with some custom work.

+1. Everything included in it is absolutely perfect. Heatshield on both the manifold and turbo, tapered downpipe, even the radiator hose is repositioned to prevent heat soak of the IC pipes and intake. The 44mm wastegate is nice also. The price is very reasonable.

They can make a kit that will work with the stock airpump at turblown, everything is custom made there. My manifold was custom from them.

And if you've got the bucks, check out their heat-shields;

Is Himni the way to go then? A-spec wanted me to go with a GT3574 because it better on stock port motors. I don't see Himni providing this turbo. Turblown has it tho........
Hmmmmmmm........ What to do?

A full gt35R or the 1.0 stageV is going to be better than a Gt3574 for stock ports( as long as you're not going past 18psi). The Gt3574 uses a P trim turbine wheel, which is much larger than the GT35R's turbine wheel or the stageV turbine. You have less overall flow with stock ports, why would you want to go with a bigger turbine wheel/housing? If you are intend on keeping the Gt3574 turblown also offers it in BB version, I don't think anyone else has that option.

Why does A-spec recommend the GT3574 when I specified I have stock ports, maybe because of the 1:1 wheel ratio? It would spool similar to a GT35R I was told.

My best bet is then Himni racing kit with GT35R it looks like they deliver all the parts needed and is still cheaper than the others. Correct?

Still awaiting shipping estimates from Himni to Norway but I have a P.O. box I can send thing to in the US that forwards it to me.

What are you looking for a cheap kit or a nice setup?

If cheap is what you are after get an hks log manifold, and piece it together. It obviously won't work as well as the others.

I'm not sure as I haven't seen the A-spec kit. The 3574 will probably have better boost response since the GT series turbos are newer. You have to weigh out the price difference and decide whether its worth it.

I though the Himni racing GT35R kit was a nice setup and cheap?
