GT-X or GT-R?

I have heard that these classify years of TIIs and then different models. What do they actually mean?

They are J-spec, I know that much. I have heard that:
1:GT-R is more rare
2:GT-R is faster stock

I really have no clue, this is merely second hand info I have collected. Good luck in your search!!

GT-R's and GT-X's can be available all thru 86-91. so yes, you can have an 88 GT-X or a 91 GT-R. or vice-versa. they refer to the trim packages. i'm pretty sure the 86-88 still had 182 hp and 89-91 200 regardless of the trim package.

GT-X generally had the T2 sideskirts (avail in 89-91 years only), maybe the front lip, rear wing, maybe leather (although not too many jspecs have leather). so GT-x's in 87 could have different or "fancier" rims than the GT-R of 87.

a GT-R of 89-91 might not have the side skirts or wing. or a GT-R of the 86-88 era might just look very stripped down...

i guess for the 86-88 its kinda hard to tell what was what over here, since sideskirts and lips weren't available on those models on either contintent...

They are just trim levels in Japan...

Sorry for the crappy pic, but you can make out the year runs on the left vertical side, and you can clearly see that the GTR and GTX models run throughout the entire FC3S model run...

its kinda hard to tell for the 86-88's since no real body options were available in the US and they all had the same 16 inch rims. lets say you have a 88 GT-R in japan. this might even have the 15 "balogna" slicer rims found on some SE's here, or no power windows, or no rear wiper.

in my opinion there weren't any "GT-R's" here in the US. to my knowledge ALL of the north american 89-91 T2's came with side skirts/16's/rear wing so that would basically eliminate any GT-R status. leather seats make no difference in the status either since about 99% of the jspec FC's don't have leather yet are still GT-X's...

so lets see...do you have leather? 16 inch rims? power windows? rear wiper? rear spoiler? if yes, i'd say you can call it a GT-X...

I have no leather, power sunroof and windows, power steering, no spoiler, and I thought the 16" rims but I will check next time I go look at my car. What do the 16" looks like?

All US TIIs came with 16'' rims. The 87s had the non polished ones with more holes.

Those are for Japan FC's only.&nbsp It looks like you're in the U.S., so the model trims are totally different.&nbsp In fact, there is only one turbo model (i.e. "Turbo II"), so you don't have to worry about GT-R or GT-X...

Oh well I have heard people in the US that called theirs a GT-X so I just figured mine was one or the other.
