GT-R or GT-X?

Well, im looking to import a car from japan, because i know the owner of a respected company in my town, and i was wondering which model was better?

I read that the GT-X has an lsd, and the GT-R doesnt, is this true?

I've also heard the GT-X came with stock LSD, but a lot of cars are pretty highly modified from the auctions that these "companies" usually import from so a GT-R may infact come with an aftermarket LSD from these auctions. Whoever you're getting to import the car should be able to tell since these auctions have auction sheets that lists problems/mods that come with the car.

Oh yeah... Some of us live in crappy canadian cities that have earned the use of "dead" and "hurt" in the nicknames of these cities and while a couple TIIs use to be in existence, it is now very rare to find decent shaped TIIs for sale. Heck... Last time I checked I couldn't even find a TII for sale across canada...

And BTW a lot of these auctioned vehicals have rolled back meters and the auction house is pretty bias when it comes to rating their cars on the auction sheets and often avoid listing body damage and past accidents to try and sell off these vehicals. No compression tests can be done either by the auctions... So it's pretty much based on sheer luck whether you import a good car or not.

GT-X is the 87 Sport or 88 GTU with a turbo driveline. It is the BASELINE MODEL in Japan. It's the lightest, and fastest.

It is tough to buy a Turbo II in Canada, especially western Canada. But I am getting very sick of RHD cars, and their owners thinking they are driving the coolest cars in the world. 99.99% of the time, the people driving an RHD car is a over-cocky little kid who has no idea what they are doing, and will only end up hurting themselves.

Do yourself a favor and not buy an RHD car, especially from any company in Alberta. I have heard extremely bad horror stories about every shop in Calgary and Edmonton. PM me the name of the shop you are going to deal with, and I will put you in touch with a dissatisfied customer.

Wow, I hope the RHD craze passes soon.

I thought it was backwards?
I thought the GT-R was the baseline model...15" wheels.
The GT-X was higher trim - I know it's heavier!

GT-X was higher trim, came with spoiler and lsd standard. I am also sick of the RHD drive car craze... Ahhh... Alberta is too rich... Parents now days are not only spoiling their kids, they're endangering lives. I could car less about the kids, it's when the kids do damage to the innocent trying to perform their cool jdm "drifting" and such. RHD is becoming the new rice imo.

EDIT: Forgot to add... I have not only heard of the horror stories of importing but have personally seen the horror stories as well.

Nope, not correct. Starting from the cheapest the line-up was GT (S5 only), GT-R, GT-X, GT-Limited and Cabriolet. Other than the GT, both S4 and S5 used these trim designations.

You guys in america have no ******* clue what its like to buy a seven here in canada, let alone alberta. People here are ******* retarded, they want 8grand for a 175000km 1987 GX rx7! Give me a break, thats sad, a base model for 8g's, no thanks. Then when you do look for a turbo II there is only one, and its modded out to ****. I've seen ads here for convertables S4 for 10k with 180 000kms! What the **** is that? And then you read the description and they say "rare car". RX7's up here are totall bullshit when it comes to price.
Down in the states you can find a good TII for 4k!
I'd buy a RHD NOT becuase its RHD, but becuase you can get a very very nice s5 tII GTX for 6g's stock, its awesome, nothing beats it around here.

No, Familias weren't the only Mazda models to use GT-X and GT-R badges.

Uhm... why don't you just hop the border and get one from the USA instead of importing it from Japan?

Becuase its easier and probably the same price. If I goto the states, I gotta drive all the way down there, have a friend drive my car back and I drive the seven back. When we get to the border im defenitly gonna have to pay something to get this car in. Finally when its at my house I'll have to take it for in province inspection in wich it has to pass safety standards and emissions. Any car brought in from outside the province must be inspected.

or

I can goto importconcern, give them my money and have my car delivered locally that is already inspected and ready for registration for the same amount.

Thanks for the help.

And everything blackplauge is saying is the exact reason im getting one from japan instead of trying for one here. Its easier, and cheaper.

RHD lets you talk to the ladies on the side of the road

What, never seen Corvette Summer?

I'd go for the GT-X trim, personally. INFINI's are pretty rare... Hell, you might as well just buy an FD. You can get one for less than 8K in Japan.

(well, I'd guess you'd have to wait 2-3 years to do that... I forgot about the 15 year-rule for Canada)
