GRRRRRRR wont start :(

I was driving the car and then hit a speed bump maybe around 20mph and my car just died.

The engine is a fresh rebuild and everything was running great
The weird thing is that the cars headlights will turn on and light for the key right above the ignition is on.

Nothing else turns on. Not even on accessory (I had to put my top up manually and couldn't even put my windows up and it started raining).

I tried jump starting the car because I thought the battery might have miraculously lost all of its charge. No such luck. Tried jumping it and no accesories or turnover.

Only thing I can think of is that the ground from the battery to the frame fell off when I hit the bump ... any other ideas to check ?

I'm in the same damn boat with my 86!
except the only way I've gotten mine to start up is by spraying ingnition fuel down the butterfly valve. It starts up to 3000 rpms then dies....... keeping my foot on the gas will not help either.
I check all Vac hoses, AFM, new sprark plugs, checked fuel pressure. installed and new fuel pump (the old one wasn't working very well)

someone please provide some tips!

this might sound stupid but check the connection to the battery (make shure everything is still securly connected and the connection is there). Also try jump starting it.

My car did this a couple days ago Turned out the positive terminal on the battery had some corrosion and wasn't making a good connection. Cleaned off the terminal and it started right up.

My first 7

When I bought my first RX7 it just died on the way home. I mean completly dead nothing. I messed with the negative battery connection and everything came back on.

I would recommend replacing the + & - battery cables. Should be cheap to fix . Your cable could look fine on the outside but somewhere along the way there could be a missed connection. Also make sure your post's are clean.

I had the exact same thing happen to me after I had swapped engines. It turned out to be the ground wire that comes off of the main fuse block. Somehow we had missed reconnecting it. I could still turn on the headlights, but no accessories or starting. I hate to say it, but get out a voltmeter and start checking as many grounds as you can. Also, check your fuses.

was your battery straped down when you hit the speed bump? sounds like you blew a fuse when you hit that speed bump, battery went up and hit bottom of hood and shorted it out, poping a fuse.. take a look at all the fused under the hood. than start on the inerior fuses...

Ummmm, this might sound stupid bro, but did you check your fuses?

EDIT: ok, you will....The main fuse has 2 10mm nuts on each side.....or is it 1 on one side and 2 on the other? Anyhow, grab a ratchet.
