Angry Grrreddy vs RotaryCrap TB inlet pipe

It seems as if no matter what I buy for my RX7, nothing just fits.

I ordered the Rotary Works throttle body inlet pipe. It fits, but the length is a tad long. If I were to connect a 90deg hard pipe to the end, it would have to be a unrealistic bend (not something I can order pre-bent) to not hit the brake reservoir on my TII. I would have to use a 90deg silicone coupler to get the turn radius.

So I order a greddy to get the shorter length. They ******* place the sensor in the way of the engine hoist hook. What the ****?! I spent a while cutting off the tmic brackets from it!

It seems as if no one takes the time in r&d!

Just sharing the differences between the two, and my frustration.

I dont think you can blame either company.. The parts you are talking about are designed to be used in an FD3S not an FC3S.

Sure, the parts can work with modification...cant blame the manufactures for this..

I do not know what you are talking about because these for for the FC:

do not look like these for the fd:

Sure, the throttle body flange is similar but i think each was clearly designed for it's own platform.

From your 1st post I though you had done the FD UIM and TB swap on your FC, my mistake..

Both of those TB inlets are made to be used with each companies intercooler with piping kit..

I have an Inlet that has a much better angle ( More of a universal inlet) if you think you are interested..

Maybe send both of those back?

I've got a Greddy elbow from my FC 3-row FMIC kit. It's not polished though. I never had any major fitment problems. There are innumerable ways to do a custom FMIC setup. You can't blame the manufacturer if you are having trouble making it work with your setup.

is it so hard to remove the engine lifting ring? remove that **** who needs it. When you blow up your motor you will have more problems then bolting that piece back on

BTW I am going over to a FD set up and will have a polished greddy elbow for sale if anyone needs one

I don't know where my engine lift point went!?? I don't even know if I had one when I installed this engine. There's one on the back of the UIM, but the other one's gone I guess. Not like you need one anyways, just use a long bolt. There are plenty of extra threaded holes you can use.

@rob xx 7 obviously I care. It's a nice convience. I cut one of the lift hooks off on my last car to make it look good, and regretted doing it every time I removed the engine. I had to bolt the chain to the head and it would rub/wear the plastic valve cover.

@aGreen Yeah. It would just be nice though to have a product where simple things were not overlooked, and it just fit.

@hypertek good question! I'll have to look at some s5 engine bays.

Why not unbolt the ring and put in your tool box and bolt it back on if needed.

I didn't have any fitment issues w/ the Greddy pipe, but I do have an issue with the bung for the AIT. Its too big for the stock sensor....what sensors is everyone running?

You are correct. The Greddy compression tube and IC kit are designed for the JDM car with the brake booster on the other side of the engine bay. Even the instructions that come with both the 2 and 3 row depict a JDM engine bay.

On every Greddy kit we install I have to trim the piping down 1-2in and bead-roll the end, to avoid a clearance issue with the reservoir. Cars that do not have a P/S pump make installation a little easier.

We retain the lift hook for the purpose of maintaining a mounting location for the throttle cable

Here is a customer's car that we recently installed a 3 row in

My stock sensor fit just fine in my GReddy piece.

My stock one fit too, but I had to bore it out and tap it to fit a GM IAT sensor to run with the megasquirt.
