Thumbs up Grrr my vert wont be slow

Everybody says how slow verts are all the time. =\ Im sure with some weight reduction and the right stuff they can be as good as any other N/a Rx7. I mean I dont think mine is slow at all, it has street port, full exhaust (header to mufflers) intake and an exedy clutch. Im guessing when people say verts are slow they are referring to bone stock form? My vert is goign to be a very fast for an NA when im done

They are just very heavy. You can do all the weight reduction in the world(reasonably) and get down to the weight of a stock NA coupe more than likely. I like your attitude, but you're probably taking the wrong methods. You want a fast vert? Do a TII swap. Otherwise be grateful as hell if you break into 15s.

Yeah they are heavy and not really much you can do to lighten up. If you are serious about making your vert faster do a t2 swap. Other than that you will never get the performance out of your vert you are looking for.

That just stating the obvious. Its like saying a n/a gxl would never beat a T2 unless the car does an engine swap. The vert is slow but mean in autocrossing. I think the car transfers weight better than all the other 7. Anyway. My vert is doing a swap...it just takes time and money...plus I am waiting on the racing beact vert shocks and a better manifold for a to4 that is divided.

Enjoy your vert for what it is. I know I did mine...& sure get the most out of them as you can...I wouldn't worry much about weight reduction...The car was well made and extra bracing is needed for it anyway...

They are great cars in their own right.
Have fun and enjoy it...I wouldn't worry much about 1/4 mile times.

Alright, sounds good to me, it is pretty fun to drive. I think i would rather just buy a whole new car than do a T2 swap, Thats probably what my next car will be. Thanx for posts

My vert is pretty slow, an old maxima can beat it. My 86 base was fast, i would beat v6 firebirds & camaros all day. Only 1 of my verts aux ports opens though, and it bogs down off the line real hard.
I would fix it but I'm in school and working and trying to put a new engine in my 86, so theres no time.

how did you drop 500 lbs from your vert? Take out the drive train. Really though I want to know. 500lbs is major weight loss.
