ground location?

yesterday I was changing my oil pressure sending unit and I noticed I had a lose ground wire sitting beside it. the wire is really big its about a 4 gauge wire. I didn’t see any bolt/bolts close to it that it could bolt up to. anyone know what wire I am talking about and where it is suppose to go? thanks

It's the main ground for the engine/car. Comes from the negative post of the battery. Connects to the long bolt on the starter.

How the hell is there a wire hanging by the oil pump

Anyways is it a black with yellow stripe wire? There is only two 4ga wires on the car. + and - from the batt. Trace the wire, the + wire has the 8GA wire coming from the ALT post spliced into it. This is + and should not be dangling. It leads to the batt the alt and the fuse box. The other one - wire goes from the batt directly to the long bolt as hailers said through the starter and tranny.

Just attach it to one of the transmission bellhousing bolts. I'm assuming your talking about a very large wire with a large *ring terminal * on it that a bellhousing bolt will pass thru.

1rx7driver masg to iceblue - well I took the time to fine out where the wire is SUSPOS to go and no dip ***** it doesn’t go to the long bolt that goes threw the starter. there is a spot right next to the oil pressure sending unit that is part of the main block and about 1/4 of that hole has no threads and the other 3/4 of that hole is threaded and who ever owned the car before me when they rebuilt the motor didn’t put the bolt back in and just kind of left the wire sitting there. I am not one of them stick it here stick it there kind of people I want my **** to be right not half assed like a Mexican job so needless to say I got a bolt and put it into the RIGHT spot.

after posting this post I have come to the conclusion that when someone asks a question all you people that are so fast to flam a new person or when someone to ask a dumb question and all you can say is SEARCH but that’s about all some of you know is to say SEARCH

thanks for the help hailers
