Ground Issue WTF??
Ground Issue WTF??
So my vertible is driving kinda shitty last month. Didn't know what it was and I finally found it. The wire that grounds the the clutch slave is broke. Son of a bitch! So I reconnect the wire under the bolt. Start the car and drive around. It drove a hell of a lot better. So I look at my oil pressure and its pegged all the way up. HUH???? So I left it till tomorrow. (which is today) The oil is still pegged over when I start the car. Now the car feels as if it wasn't grounded any more. When I remove the ground wire oil pressure is back to normal. What the hell....I think I might have a short, but I hope its not the computer. Any Ideas???
There is no wire that grounds the clutch slave.
I suspect that you grounded your oil pressure gauge which would only affect user perception of drivablility (and of course the oil pressure guage).
what color was the wire that you "grounded" the cluthc slave with???

There is a black wire that is grounded to the Clutch slave cylinder. Also, I don't have a pyschological feel of better driveablity. When the wire is off the car hesistates and lacks power *sp
oh yeah here read this Look where it says ground wire..

That wire is a large gauge wire that grounds the bell housing of the tranny, not the clutch slave.
You engine would need the bell housing wire grounded to run good if you lost the other grounds on the engine.
Either way it would bolt to the bell houseing with a 10MM bolt not to the clutch slave. I guess you could use the clutch slave to ground that wire if you broke the 10mm bolt and needed another place to ground

So im not pulling your chain. Unless thats a common place people move that wire to.

You posted a bad link:

either way it wouldn't effect the oil pressure gauge, only grounding the yel/red or disconnecting the condensor for the sender would cause that.

and no of course its not directly attach to the clutch slave, Its a terminal that attachs like a washer under the bolt that holds the cluch slave. The wire is black and is 5 inches long and turns into a white single tab connector. I have not follow where the wire goes afther that.
Either way, it sounds like the wire is the large gauge bellhousing ground, that normally would go to the bolt on the bellhousing for it. So the last guy that did a clutch job on your car, just moved it or its a S5 and for what every reason Mazda didn't put it on the bell housing anymore (probably to save the 5 cents that the bolt cost).
I don't have a S5 on the street to confirm, but there is a dedicated bolt to the bell housing on the two S4s in my neighborhood.

Like the man said earlier. That wire is for the capacitor for the oil pressure gauge. Its supposed to have a more or less square, approx one inch square capacitor/condeser on the end of the wire and a hole so you can attach it to the slave cylinder. Its normal configuration for all second generation and if I remember right my first gen had it there also. You need to get that wire off there right now. If the condenser is missing, either get another or live without that wire going anywhere. Just cap it off.
