Ground on the emissions harness; help identify it please?

Okay, I'm trying to figure out what this ground goes to; from searching I think it grounds the oil pressure gauge sensor?
I had it grounded on the tranny, but I dropped it yesterday and wasn't thinking so it snapped.
I can fix it, but it'd take time and if it just goes to the oil pressure gauge sensor I'm not worried about it; I'm tossing in aftermarket gauges next weekend.
It isn't the ground that goes from the firewall to the engine/tranny.
It isn't the ecu ground that grounds either under the UIM or on top of the UIM.

I know pictures would be more helpful to you guys to identify, but I don't have batteries for my camera yet.

It is a capacitor to prevent fluctuations in the signal sent to the gauge so it doesn't flutter and give incorrect readings. It's also part of the "Engine harness" and not the "Emissions harness."

Yeah, it does sound like the capacitor.
Many cars- with stock gauges- are working just fine without it and I've never seen an aftermarket gauge use one.
If you have one, use it, if you don't, I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the replies guys.
The emissions harness is the harness with the fuel injector connectors and the BAC connector right?
If so then this ground is on the emissions harness.
The stock gauge is broke though and that is why I was wondering if I was correct on what it did.
I went to re-do it today and where the wire is, I can't reach so I won't worry about.

If you ground the wire that the condenser connects to on the harness.........for any period of time over say a minute.........then you peg your oil pressre gauge and ruin it. Never to work right again ..ever. Never ever. Toast.

I'm not for sure what you mean.
The wire I'm talking about is an actual factory ground.

He's suggesting that if the capacitor broke off and you grounded just the wire it would in time damage the gauge. Also, on an S5 there is a condenser/capacitor that is part of the leading coil wiring that is Black/Yellow which is part of the Front harness which then connects to the Emissions harness.

Okay, I understand now.
This is just a single wire with an eyelet on the emissions harness.
I don't have any wires grounded that shouldn't be.

The oil pressure senders capacitor is black in color. It is square in shape and is about a half inch by a half inch in size.

It has a single wire going to it that is colored BLACK and is approx a half foot long. That BLACK wire connects to the harness on the engine. It connects to a single wire that is Yellow/Red in color.

That yellow/red wire is spliced to the yellow/red that goes to the oil pressure sender and also the oil pressure gauge in the interior.

Ground the yellow/red and you condem the oil pressure gauge to a short life span measured in minutes at best. That sucker will never read right if grounded for over a minute, maybe less than a minute. Pegs the needle of the gauge.

Pictures of the condenser can be found using the search engine on this site.

IF the condenser is not connected up to the yellow/red wire in the harness...........nothing much will happen. The guage will work just fine without it from my and others experience(s).
