Ground Control Spring set?
Ground Control Spring set?
I saw a car with these and was wondering how difficult it is to put these on your car. Would you need to take it to a shop to do this? If so how much would they charge? I know my friend has put his own springs in 2 or 3 cars but these look a little different. Thanks.
The set I saw online was for adjustable spring sets. They used eibachs(sp?) and you just lifted the corner you wanted adjusted and turned the threaded piece. They were $399 for 4. I will get the site when I get home and post it. Thanks.
I have the Ground Control set up on my FC.
Its not that hard to install them. (IMO)
I still have the Ground control insruction sheet. I could take a photo of it and e-mail at to you. So you can get a better idea of you'll need to do. I don't have a scaner.
thanks

The 2nd gens are much easier to install than the 1st gens. I have them on my FB and they were a lot of work. We put them on an FC and it was much easier. The camber kit is nice to have with them though.

The only place I ran into problems, was lack of spring compressor, and lack of impact gun. But I got around them. If you don't have a spring compressor, you can use bailing wire and wrap it throught the spring coils, and use a screw driver to twist the wire to tighten it. Thats what I did to get keep the springs from flying out. Also the top nut that holds the top of the strut is a bitch without an impact gun. You can try to use a screwdriver and wedge it between the bolts on top of the strut mount to keep the assemble from twisting while you get the center nut off. I ended up taking the assmembly to my uncles house and using his impact gun. Hopefully for Christmas I'll get my own.
Anyways, other than that, everything went pretty smooth. Oh, I had to use a grinder on the strut casing thing to make the threaded collar fit over it. I don't know if others had to do that or what. I had stock struts. But anyways, if you give yourself a better part of a day, you can probably do it, if you have a socket set, various screwdrivers, and maybe an impact driver. It took me about 4 hours, and I had no previous experience doing suspension work. You should probably upgrade your struts at the same time. I wish I would have, stock struts won't handle stiff springs very well, especially old worn out struts. The kit allows me to stay anywhere from stock height, to a 2" drop. I'm quite happy with it. I have had mine at 2" drop since its been installed. I have stock rims though so it doesn't look THAT lowered. Occasionally a passenger will scrap my door on a curb and I'll have to bitch at them, and you there is NO curb you can clear with the front end.
