Grinding noises in 4th gear under 3000 RPMS
So i went out last night at 3am to take the rx-7 for a spin. Had the windows cracked and the shifter area partially removed since i was "trying" to install a new shifter boot in the dark.
Gear 1-3 were fine, little whinning, but 4th gear sounded horrible under 3000 RPMS. Once i passed 3000 RPm it went away.
The performance of the transmission wasnt really affected, it still reacted as it always does. STill didnt stop me from doing 5 runs between 100-122mph =)
On a side note, if i go into reverse theres a lil grindage, sometimes there not!
SOmetimes i gotta shift into first then into reverse to get her into gear.

Reverse does not have a synchro and will therefore grind sometimes if you dont put it in first then reverse. As far as I know this is true for most manual transmissions.
