Greetings from Sweden !

Hi guys!

I`m new here and have some questions to ask for you experts !

I have a -86 n/a that I bought with a complete ,new-built, streetported, engine on the side !

The original engine runs great but I can´t help thinking what the car would be like with the other engine inside

The number-one question for you guys is, do I need a standalone management system to run a streetported 13B ? The builder of my second motor says it´s a must and, because of that, it just sits and wait for the other engine to "grow old".... nice problem but still,,,, what do you think ? it´s ofcours a miny issue aswell as a TII-swap might be more interesting,,

I have read about rear-ends with an LSD beeing labeled with a tag, anyone knows where to look for that tag ? obviously on the housing but i have two complete rear-ends and non of them with a tag.

As I´m from Sweden you have to excuse my English and the car is ofcours Euro-spec so it might differ !

/Best regards, Per from Sweden

A Standalone may be excessive in your case, but some fuel management will be needed. You could get away with an Rtek or some S-AFC and be fine, plus save ya some dough!

I'd listen to Tex. I had a very similar thread about a streetported engine and what was needed. And that was the general agreement.
*Edit* here is that thread

The tag on the LSD diff (if still present) would be held on by the oil fill bolt. A lot of times, these are lost during an oil change.

An easy way to check, I hear, is to turn one of the half shafts (that would go to the wheels). If the other side turns the same direction you have an LSD.

Hi and thanks !

I´m from the Malmo-area down south.

I´ll have to try to locate the things you mentioned and maybe dig in to it some day. What are the prices in the states for these things ?, E-bay ??

/Best regards, Per

Thank you Sindregutt ! I have read your thread about crashing and rebuilding and I have to say that I´m very impressed !. I´m and old, well 44...) familiy-man that used to rally a lot so I know what it means to patch up, or even rebuild, a wrecked racer !. I know of the swedish expertice and I´m just collecting second opinions since, for now, I´m planning to keep the orginal engine as it runs just great but maybe a bit low on power...:-) to much is just about enough, right ?

/Best regards, Per
