Is it true that it's a felony to spit on the sidewalk or chew gum there? Seems like I heard something about that a few years ago when that punk American kid vandalized cars and got caned. Inquiring mind wants to know...

Is it still true you guys have to buy the right to buy a new car?(makes it double price to have a car!) My Thai wife and I were in Singapore in Dec'93, I had shipped a new Harley-Davidson there to start a 5 month trip ending in north Thailand. It took me three weeks to get my Harley out of your country as the head of customs(scumbag), wanted it real bad. He had me followed around the city and wouldn't talk to my shipper or me(or tell us were the bike was!) My shipper said in his 20+ years he had never seen this before and it got him mad(thats the only reason we got it out of Singapore!)
In the end, we did some backroom paperwork, found out where it was hidden and got it across the causeway to Malaysia before he knew what happened! It cost me three weeks and around $3000.US. Well, I probibly will not be visiting Singapore again(even IF I wanted to, I probibly can't go back!)
Bangkok is a lot more FUN!!, and you can spit on the street without doing jail time. Also if you get stopped for speeding in Thailand(NEVER!), you just give the cop some money!

Yup guys things in Singapore ain't that easy...for brand new cars, we have to go through a bidding system to acquire a Certificate of Entitlement before being able to get the new car on the streets!! Kinda shiiting man!! And the other thing is that the cert only last for 10years and thereafter one has to purchase a cert to continue the car for another 10years. However there is a benefit whereby once the 10years is up you can decide to continue the car or not...if one chooses not too than you will get back some cash from the PARF value which was already more or less evaluated when getting the car!!
My FC was a parallel import version and therefore has no PARF value after 10years so it only made sense for me to purchase another 10years for her!!
