greenish-blue gear oil color? Is it royal purple???

I hadn't changed my gear oil since I purchased the car so I decided to do it yesterday. The tranny and gear oil I drained out yesterday was greenish-blue (more towards green in color). Someone marked both drain plugs in permanent marker that read SWP 2001 (2001 probably being the last time the fluid was changed?).

Think its ROYAL PURPLE or what???

I decided to go with Mobil1 75w-90 full synthetic in both tranny and rear (no LSD). We'll see how it works out...

Thanks for looking!

You saw that CSI episode too?

Can't you just flush it all out and then use royal purple?

I say just believe it was Royal Purple, flush it all out, and fill her up. I don't see why you'd want to go with a cheap synthetic like Mobil1.

so is standard gear oils once you drain it into a pan. the shimmer off the top is purple but it is a slight yellow/green while draining.

royal purple is completely..... PURPLE in color.
