Greddy Water Temperture Sender Unit

Are you guys tapping It In the Water Pump without the adapter fitting? I'm In favour of doing this. As a back up, I have a brass fitting adapter. I'm not sure about the compatibility of aluminum/brass either.

I'm opting to ditch the brass fitting. Are you guys using the optional adapter fitting or tapping the Sensor In straight Into the Water Pump Housing/Thermostat?

I just put mine in the stock location. Seems accurate. I can see the thermostat open at around 83C.

The GReddy sender won't fit in the stock location if you have an S4.

I came up with a cheap solution that has treated me right so far.
Just get a 3-4" length of 1.5" aluminum piping, thread the top with a 10mm threader, screw in the the GReddy sender, JB Weld it on, then stick it in the upper radiator hose.

The only downside is that it's after the Thermostat, but it beats taking off the waterpump.

Fortunately for me, I have the option of tapping Into the Water Pump Housing due to it being off.

In that case, there is no need for an adapter. Since the sender has thread on it, just thread a hole in the water pump according to that size.

My sensor's threads were 10mm with a 1.0 thread pitch.
I used a 3/8ths drill bit to start the hole, then threaded it with the said threader size.

Well on S4's I know there is already a bung behind the alternator and between the Thermostat and water pump.

It is already threaded because it was meant for the Electric secondary fan.

Both of my 88 NA's didn't have it so I just removed the plug which did nothing and installed the Autometer Electric gauge.

It worked fine in that location.

silver aren't you using a S5 block on your TII swap?

if so like the post says it should thread right in (greddy sender)

so get a Y connection with the same threads, and have the stock thread to one outlet and the greddy to another outliet.

presto.

Yes. I have a freshly rebuilt, street ported s5 Block and Water Pump and It's Housing.

I removed both the stock Water Temp Sender Unit and the Accessory Sensor behind the Water Pump Housing. Both to no avail. The Greddy Sensor does not even grip the threads.

so get a Y connection with the same threads, and have the stock thread to one outlet and the greddy to another outliet.

I would but I need sizes. Every attempt has resulted In fittings that were Brass, which I'm reluctant to use.

I've acquired the fittings that come with the Autometer Water Guages. Of the 2, the bigger one Is a hair to big.
Home Depot/Brofasco will be expecting me soon.

So much for that. I found a brass fitting that fits the Greddy Sensor. The other end of the fitting slides Into the former auxilliary sensor slot (at the Water Pump - below Water Thermo Sensor). At this point, I may just JB Weld the fitting Into place.

ummm a little late for my reply but I had an autometer guage.

I t needed an adapter. So I went to checker and got the adapter kit for AUtometer guages. It was just a bunch of brass adapters which I probably could have gotten from Home Depot but it was 1 in the morning at the time.

Moderating and letting off FD Alternators sure upped the anti.

Yeah. I went to both HD and Brofasco to no avail. I've since opted to use the Autometer adapter (smaller one) and just JB Weld It. It looks clean and I'm sure It will hold.
