Great Idea? placement of water temp sensor

I was reading and came across a post by Dale that said the T-stat housing was stagnent untill the T-stat opened so once again another dead spot in the cooling system as far as accurate real time temps goes. He used a T in the TB coolant line as that flows all the time. So I was thinking of putting a T in the Turbo feed line but was wondering where I could get a T that would flow around the sensor well. I am running all braided stainless lines with AN fittings and I think that this would be an optimal place to get readings from. According to the FSM (as near as I can tell) that is on the way back to the water pump Any thoughts?

but lets say you still want your dash gauges to work, just for show. where would you hook them up for oil pressure and water temp?

oil pressure was simple I put that in the adapter plate sold by any number of performance places, it replaces your stock oil filter mount and usually has two holes drilled and tapped for oil pressure and oil temp.

OK Karack this gives me an idea then, How about use the new temp sensor in the stock location with the newer more accurate gauge, and move the stock to the location I suggested?

oil pressure = get an oil filter pedestal
coolant temp = many various locations around the water pump housing, it is tough to get it post the thermostat though so really just watch the stock gauge til the thermostat opens up then monitor the aftermarket one, i figured this was why the question was asked was due to a dead stock gauge anyways. i though Tin was using a carputer or fabbed up cluster so no stock gauges any longer, i could be wrong though.

edit: you can do that, just swap the sensor locations. you will just need to retap the threads for the sensor to fit the S4 housing so choose carefully since you cannot go back to the stock sensor in the sock location.

Yeah trying to keep the stock gauges "for show" With everything I have going in I want it to look as stock as possible.

I know that is almost laughable (if you know the ridiculous amount of electronics in this car) But with the exception of the gauge pod and speaker box the car looks almost perfectly stock inside (at a glance)

OK what about the shavings from the tap?

Just shove a magnet on a string in the hole?

a good flush of the cooling system afterwards should get almost all of them out since the block drain is almost directly below it. shavings in the cooling system are not as big of a deal as you would think but getting as much of them out as possible is a good idea.
