Gotta start a couple times

I think my engine is flooded, but perhaps not. Usually when warm (or sometimes when cold, but very rarely)... the car takes like three tries to start it. It just sputters a bit then dies.... start it up... sputters, and dies... start again... sputters a bit more... jam on the gas... and then it starts... i do have an EGI kill switch... and that does work... however, with the warm weather, it seems like it does it far more often than I like... as though the idle is set at 300 for 30 seconds after i put my key in. Odd isnt it? the idle does also drop sharply after it starts up, but after about 5 seconds, the car works perfectly fine. something to do with sensors i think. any suggestions?
Thanks
-Ross
