Gotta get the car smogged... What are some good prep tips?

My gas tank is about less than half right now.

Should I fill it up? I use Marvels Mystery Oil. Should I put some of that in? Should I put it in without filling up the tank?

The only thing I plan on doing is driving it around for a good 30 minutes or so before I take it in.

Anything else I might do?

oil change
plug change (if youre due) wire change

also i dont recommend using methanol/alcohol in any higher concentration than 10%. i popped a coolant seal using 40%

make sure its run up good before you take it in, then ask the techie to rev it for at least a minute at 4grand before the test.

if you do an mmo treatment.. make sure that you run it through BEFORE the test.
everyone has their own opinions on their secret methods of passing smog.

basically make sure your car runs well and i will personally guarantee you will pass.

Well, my engine is newly rebuilt as of 2 years ago. Rebuilt fuel injectors, 2 year old plugs and plug cables Right now Im having oil problems where a couple of my hoses are bleeding through and my stock turbo is leaking.

Other than that, the car is fine. The fuel might be running a little rich (depending on how my mechanic set it), and everything else is still stock on the car.

And again, does having more or less gas in my tank affect my exhaust hugely? I dont think I need to put in any (rubbing?)alchohol, but I really dont know.

Thanks

well if youre fuel system is working properly.. empty/full doesnt matter. as for using alcohol, ive had hit and miss results with it. dont use isopropyl ... not good stuff.
and yes, odds are youre running rich. you can try getting an SAFC if youd like.. that could lean it out, but first why dont you just try the basic tune up and lets see how it goes?

do you still have an operational OMP? if so, run the MMO through before you test it, if it reacts to combustion like 2 stroke oil does then it will cause higher than normal emissions.

Damn IT!
i premixed mmo earlier this week and then tried smogging it and completely forgot!
luckily i didnt pay for a free smog check(just a hook up to the computer no certificate)
and yeah my car was like 5 times wat it should be polluting wise!!!

This could be complete bullshit, but I've heard the hotter the exhaust is the better it gets burned. So if you redline a few times on the way to where you get your car smogged it will help out.

really, so premixing wouldnt be the reason why my fc had a messed up emission score?

I have the worst time passing smog with my FC. I had it tested 4 times (paid once, failed. oil change, plug change, failed the free retest. new cat, air pump straight into exhaust, paid again, failed. alcohol in tank, cat RED HOT, failed the free retest)It eventually got to the point where I stopped trying. My local dealership shows the EGR as discontinued. And since Autozone can't get it, I bring proof of both to the garage and get a waiver for the year. Much less of a hassle, and costs slightly less. You might want to check your dealership for a loophole like this if you can't get it to pass.

You should search as well. There are lots of methods people will swear by.

Its a regular emissions sticker except it says "exempt" at the bottom of it.
