got sloppy and lost a bolt...

Goddamnit, This should have NEVER happened!

Becuase the seven is so new to me, and I made such a bold step as to take out the complete intake system right down to the block and restore it, I made SURE that I had every bolt and washer. What I would do was I just left the bolt attached to the dissasembled piece, that way it would never get lost, and I would never need to remember where it went!

So anyways, I was connecting my UIM to the LIM in my s4 and I found the four nuts that screw on, but im MISSING the long assed bolt that attaches these together.

Once again, its the one and only long bolt that goes in just below the secondary fuel injectors, and attaches the upper intake manifold to the lower. This is also the same bolts that are used in the plenum-upper intake manifold.

So.. Does anyone know the exact length of the bolt and size of thread?

thank you!

lol

LOL... when I go to put my car back together you're gonna see me in here with a long *** list of "what bolt goes in this hole?!".

I'd check but the bolts from the entire car are scattered throughout my garage and plastic baggies... no clue where I'd find a specific one. =/

Mine WAS about 4 1/4" long. I say was because about 1/8 of an inch broke off on me one time.. it still works though.
The thread size.... just take one of the nuts that fastens the UIM down because it threads into that.. I dont know how to determine the actual size sorry...

P.S. the thread just lasts the last inch and 1/4 but that dosent matter... go to mazda and they will give you the closest thing they have...

Thats what I did

Nevermind I was thinking about the wrong bolt sorry!

"attaches the upper intake manifold to the lower."
or am I...???

take it to a local bolt and screw shop they should be able to hook you up with the right bolt for cheap. I live in a pretty small town and they had the 8mm bolt for my turbo hot side that I thought they wouldn't.

edit: if this doesn't work go in the forsale section under people that are parting out their cars and buy it from them.

the thing is, remember that all these bolts are metric in every way... and I can't remember whether the threads are "fine" or "normal", but as I recall that bolt looks like its got about 24-30 TPI.

If I'm not mistaken, it's M8, course thread. Length is about 3-4 inches, but buy long and cut to size.

ok heres how you measure bolt length, usually just the length of the shank with the hex head bolts we usually have on our cars.

http://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-in...re-Length.aspx

Then here's diameter http://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-in...-Diameter.aspx

Metric doesn't have fine or coarse thread, they just have thread pitch in millimeteres which is the distance between each thread.

Standard has coarse (UNC) and fine (UNF) threading that is measured in the number of threads per inch.

damn you're goin to hell now...

Just take one of the other bolts form the manifold to a hardware store and tell them you need the same size and thread patter, but the bolt needs to be 6cm (2" or so) long.

well u can say

1.75 is course 1.5 is normal and 1.25 is fine

that's just an easy way to describe a bolt fast. There are others but those are the major ones and almost all the bolts on the car are one of those three.
