Got my Turbo 6-port running again!
Howdy all,
As some of you might remember a while ago I turbocharged my N/a 6-port Series 4 until the turbo crapped itself. Well I got bored on tuesday and happend to have a hybrid (t3/t4 style) turbo sitting around my house, so I thought i'd put it on for the local street drag meet which was last night.
Only took a little bit of modification to the manifold I had and an adaptor plate to make it all bolt together.
First impressions are that on its current 4psi, it is pulling ALOT harder than my stock Series 4 turbo was on 7psi..
I have a few small problems to iron out like some intake leaks and what not, but im rather happy with it so far.
Stay tuned for some pics! I'll scan the time slip later on for ya'll.
Specs are basically this:
-Microtech fuel/ignition ECU
-Hybrid turbo, has a larger compressor housing than a s4/5 about the same size exhaust housing as a S4 turbo but has been machined out to fit a larger wheel than a stock S4 turbo then compressor has a T4 wheel on it, thats all i know about it though..
-Stock(460cc) injectors
-3in dump pipe
-2.5in cat back (straight pipe, no mufflers )
-3l Supra intercooler
various other little things
Best run on the night was only a 14.8, not very impressed with that. but hey it was only 4psi and on an untuned microtech, was my first time ever down at the strip too, had it bouncing off rev limiter in 1st because I had no traction..
I blew the gearbox though! hehe
Take note boys and girls, N/A transmissions don't take well when a half torquey turbo engine does a few flat shifts through them!
Time for a series 5 box I think.

Er, yup sorry my bad, ment S5 turbo tranny
When I say not tuned, I don't mean it running on the base map
It has been tuned, but just not properly for different inlet temps yet, so as the air gets kinda hot, around the end of 3rd gear when im racing, it starts to run a bit too rich.
Yes I will try my best to get some piccies today, just gotta find someone with a digi cam.

and who said anything about stopping at 10psi??
I have two rather large injectors waiting to get cleaned, then i'll put those in and start upping the boost, but until then, 4psi it is
I still might be able to get it dynod with this gearbox since its only really 2nd thats crapped out on me.
I'm seriously thinking about using this turbo on my S5 engine im about to start rebuilding (as soon as i get a fricken 54mm socket!) instead of a usual S4/5 one..

Not bad at all. How do you have the 6PI hooked up? Do you still have engagement and disengagement at a set rpm, or do you just run the 6pi open all of the time.

Hmm.. Do'h! just noticed my 60ft time just then.. hadn't looked at it till then, not a very good 60footer at all.. 2.4sec..
and my reaction time leaves alot to be desired.. oh well afterall it was my first trip down to the 1/4mile i guess.
