I've seen a lot of problems from putting 22s on vehicles.
for ex I've seen a steering box come right off the frame from big wheels

Wouldn't putting 20-22+ on a rx7 stress the hub and spindles more than they were designed to handle, weight wise, and when cornering and stuff?

probably. The handling would be ruined for sure. The car above would likely flip over if it were to turn at over 15 mph.
