its an RX7.. not a Ferrari *yah you can put 20s on there probably*
but as far as people saying dont do it.. RX7 doesnt have a high bluebook value, so let him do it.

You probably need to raise it or cut some of the fender i dunno

He asked a legit question, as silly as it is. At least its not another "post pics of your car" thread...

I'm just imagining a new fad here but.............

How bout a car, running 22 x 12's, 245 tires, slammed as much as you can with those tires entering a drift competition? That would be pretty funny.

Anyone heard of VIP drift?

I personally think 20's or 22's would be awesome, just for uniqueness. If it were me, I'd do it, make it look really good, learn how to kick some *** like that on the track, document that I was able to do so... Then take 'em off and make her look the way she's supposed to...

But mad props to whoever it was that was going to try it...

Just doesn't make sense to me. I understand it might look "cool", but it really isn't good for the car. Those kind of wheels are much better off on a heavier car, anyone actually know how much a set of 4 chrome 22's wieghs with tires?

edit: Looked around a little and found 70-85 lbs each for 22's with tires, is that true?? i knew they were heavy but i thought more like 50. either way its gonna add over 200lbs to the car all in unsprung weight!!!!

dude, 22s suck. I hate puttin tires on them... I say if you can pick them up over ur head 10 times in a row without crying then go ahead and get them. lol

But on the real, id like to see a vip rx7. As long as its done the right way 20's on a 7 would be fly as hell. As the the other guys said you prob would have to roll the fenders and maybe raise the car some(if you wanna drive it around everyday)

Thats exactly what I'm trying to do. Thanxs . A lot of people have been missing the point, I Know that wheels that big would take away from handling and speed ; But, I'm trying to keep this car in good condition and racing it put's it at constant risk of getting F%@kED up. VIP keeps it cean looking and nice and it requires minimal modification. I just was inspired by a HOTWHEELS car with oversized rims but was still low to the ground and sporty looking.

If it was me trying to do this, I would get some ground control sleeves(so you can adjust the ride height to what is needed) , and a rear + front adjustable camber systems then get the rims and just play with the settings till it fit right.

Oh and some gangsta *** tint.

IMHO the whole "VIP look" thing won't work on an FC. Lets face it, it's an old sports car and it looks like it, it's not a luxury car. It'll have faded, chipped paint, a worn, dated interior and dated styling. While 20's might look good to some on a Lexus or something, those are significantly larger cars, so the wheels don't look so rediculously oversized.

Besides, I'm pretty sure there are no tires that are the correct diameter for 20's. I looked and found some that were reasonably close, but they were still too tall which will make them harder to fit without rubbing, especially if you want to lower the car much.

it's not gonna look vip 90% of people out there won't know it's an rx-7 and that it's a really cool rotary sports car. they are gonna see someone who put rims on a 80s car that cost twice as much as the car did. if you're gonna do it do twentys, 22s will look dumb that oversized rim deal looks cool on a hotwheel car but what works a 1/20 scale doesn't always work at full scale, and make the whole car clean, if it's not turbo i'd make it cause an na with all that wieght is gonna be crazy slow, like geo metro 3cyl slow. maybe you could find some clearance with some aftermarket fenders. i'd ex[ect to spend over 10k between rims suspesnion bodywork, and interior, to make the rest of the car look "VIP" good luck

First off, My emblems are shaved and most everyahere I go I get compliments on my RX, Wheels are not going to change the look of it so much that u can't tell wut it is.

Second, The rims won't cost more than the car, I buy factory direct, I don't pay half what u do for rims. Need some? Get at me!

And Third, Obviously you've never seen a real life hot wheels replica! OFF THA CHAIN! You r missing out. They look the same at full scale size as they do 1/20 scale.

And last but not least u have aparently come in to the thread a little late because you mention power and speed being affected. Once again this is not the concern! V.I.P. customization is not so much about power or speed. It also does not matter if it's a big lux car or a small sports car. It's about a way of life. Clean cut precision modification & purely for show. Look up V.I.P. class in a carshow program and compare to other classes. This will help u to better understand what I'm trying 2 achieve.

P.S. Thanks for all the positive input and constructive critisizm on this thread, ALL OF YOU!!

You can VIP something like a 929 and it looks pretty good.

But an FC...? I mean, if you've got a hook up on wheels, then why not get a set of something a little more fitting for a sports car? Something lightweight, wide and preferably with a fat polished lip.

It's about a way of life.
VIP style is all about the owner. we all have different styles and what we own is a reflection of that. there is/was a guy on here that put 20's or 22's on (i cant fully remember) but he got a !@#$ ton of compliments! it looked really clean as well.
i think everyone needs to stop hating on ppls taste and just give him comments, not telling him to kill himself..........

........but thats just me....

VIP Don't mean to fit the Biggest wheels you can get your hands on.. Seriously you can make a damn clean VIP FC with 18" wheels....

But hell Even a clean *** VIP FD don't even use a 20" wheel, 19" yea as you can see from this Sample.
