Got Dubs??

Has anyone ever accomplished putting "20inch rims on a gen 2 RX7? If so do u have any pics and any advice as to how to get them on? How do u like the handling? I am modifying my rx to fit 20's or 22's. Just looking to hear from the one's who might have already done it and what thier thoughts and advice are. Those who haven't though can still give some good ideas and or input. I have even thought about air suspension.:dubs:

I can't imagine large 20" or greater rims would be good for handling or ride comfort.

Looks interesting though.

drugblock12a 03-28-08 01:05 PM

umm......yeah.........no

FlyinFINN 03-28-08 01:08 PM

Um, it looks totally retarded.... they'll fit though. I've seen 20" on a FC Vert around here.

:bling:

22" wheels on an FC??

I'm just thinking out loud when I say that the FC should not be subjected to such things as dubs and aim bags, just my personal ideology though.

:nono:

Juston Pawlak had some gangster 19's on there for SEMA

breckboarder55 03-28-08 02:16 PM

anything is possible with money...

personally i would advise against it, however its your ride...

VacavilleFC 03-28-08 02:16 PM

20's handle like crap, i'd laugh at you.

rmjmotor 03-28-08 02:35 PM

I like 17's on the FC, bigger than that i think is just a waste, or looks

VacavilleFC 03-28-08 03:37 PM

it's retarded is what is it, if you wanna be a gangster buy a monte

Blkdragn 03-28-08 03:41 PM

20"+ any wheel should ONLY be on Trucks.... I see enough of those over sized wheels on almost any damn thing that rolls...

Hockey 03-28-08 03:45 PM

the only plus i can see is it might make it easier to get in and out.

so look like a tard while you drive it or just when you get out of it.

its your car...

driftmunkey 03-28-08 04:22 PM

God damn! Awfull!

totallimmortal 03-28-08 05:23 PM

lol i'd love to see pics of this. but seriously it will make your car really slow, 22 inch rims are very heavy I have light 18s and love em but any bigger wouldn't look right imo

boostedfc3s 03-29-08 12:35 AM

that may be the most disgusting thing I have ever seen, but it's your car not mine.

shadoe 03-29-08 12:58 AM

Sell your car, now, please. Dubs and sports cars are like oil and water, they don't mix, especailly when it's a smaller car like an FC.

Your biggest issue will be finding tires that aren't hugely oversized compared to stock. You'll want to keep the diameter as close to stock as possible, or your performance will be even worse and your speedo will be off.

Huge heavy wheels like that will seriously hinder acceleration and braking (large moment of inertia), they'll hurt ride comfort (both from weight and short sidewalls), they'll hurt handling (unsprung weight), they'll be expensive, and they'll be a lot more prone to damage.

The braking issue could become a safety one, as the added rotational inertia will cause a lot more strain on the brakes, making the car take a lot longer to stop and making them more prone to fade.

IMHO 17" is right on an FC, visually appealing, good tire selection, decently short sidewalls for good feel, but still with some give for ride comfort and rim protection, not too heavy. 18's start to look too big to me and the compromises start to outweigh the advantages. In tire testing 17's have beaten 16's and 18's on an autocross type course using FC appropriate sizes.
