got another 88 vert

I still have the white convertible that i bought from Dezire, but i cant get a title for it. i found a red 88 vert for 700 dollars being told it needed a transmission. that would not have been a problem for me because i have 2 in my shed, but i was glad to discover it was not in need of the whole trans. the previous owner of the car said he went from 2nd to 3rd at about 6500 rpm and he heard a loud pop followed by the shifter jumping up out of his hand. i took the shifter out and found that when that idiot did that, he twisted the universal joint in half and the drive shaft started flopping around and beat the hell out of every thing under the center console. the drive shaft hit the bottom of the shift servo and broke it in half. when it did that, it bent the rod that connects to the shift forks in the tail shaft, not sure what that is called. so when i get home, im planning on pulling the trans out and replacing the busted tail shaft with one of the good ones i have. i have pics but i cant put them up till maybe tomorow. wish me luck

sorry for the shitty quality pics were taken from my cell phone

engine before removal

engine after removal. i should have taken pics of the process

here is the empty engine bay

all interior is now removed and is for sale

here is my new vert when we got it off of the trailer

we then started investigating to see if it really needed a whole trans
\

i came back out from under the car with this broken servo

i pulled this one off of one of the spare trans i have

while i was under the car, i realized that the end of the drive shaft was beat all to hell, so we pulled the one off of my white 7. i know this wasn't the safest way to do it but it was all i had to work with

i thought all i was going to have to replace was the servo but when i put the new one on, the trans would not shift. i know whats messed up so im just going to replace the whole tail shaft with one of the good ones i have. tell me what you think.

got some better pics of the red vert again, sorry for the shitty picture quality. ps.. never buy a piece of **** black berry

this is the only dent. good thing i have a good fender lol

these mirrors have been replaced with the black ones off of my white vert.

completely stock and unmolested.......for now

interior shot. not sure what the seats are from, maybe they are just out of a hard top 7?

top down

top up

this car continues to amaze me. it still has the owners manual and every single thing that came with it from the factory. there is even a small first aid kit in the glove box that says Mazda on it. the spare tire has never even been used. the only thing i need is one of the center caps for the original mesh wheels.

Is that a H-D Police Road King next to your red car?

I laughed looking at the crane lifting the front end up!

the seats: if the car was bought new w/o headrest speakers, it received those "GXL" seats. Sweet car!

i honestly have no clue on the bike. those pics with the bike in them were taken at the previous owner of the Rx-7's house.

i didnt think the cherry picker idea was all that funny until i came out from under the car in one piece with a good drive shaft lol i just knew that thing would fall on me.

i have the Rx-7 fixed but i thought i would ad in info that i haven't mentioned.

First of all, after i pulled the trans, i found out why my universal joint got twisted in half. the previous owner installed a stage three, 6 puck, Center Force clutch. i guess it just grabbed so hard that it snapped the u-joint. i will put pics of the broken joint up tomorrow.

when the shift servo got broke, it broke two of the four bolt holes holding the servo. so i had to replace the tail shaft with one of the good ones i have. i pulled the damaged tail shaft off and starting inspecting the trans. i was messing with the shift forks and making sure all of my gears were good. i put the silicone sealant on the trans and installed the new tail shaft only to realize that it only went into two gears. luckily, i had a parts trans sitting behind me that i pulled the good tail shaft off of. i looked at it and realized that when i put the good tail shaft on my trans, i did not move all of the shift forks to neutral and had to take it all back apart and try again. after correcting this mistake, i put every thing back together and shifted through each gear. i did not replace the clutch because it appeared to be brand new. the pressure plate dont even have a scratch in the competition orange paint. now i am working on replacing the rusted fuel lines with the good ones off of my white vert. im glad that i have tons of extra Fc parts! i will put pics up later.

No, the turbo clutch will not work on an NA. The only time it 'would' work is if you had both a turbo flywheel AND a turbo trans. The Turbo clutch disc is both a larger diameter than the na and the spline count for the input shaft is different.

i went to the gas station the other night (about a mile and a half down the road) and when i went to shift from 3rd to 4th, i heard a crunch sound and it would not go in gear. i was about half way to the gas station and coasted the rest of the way there.(road was a down hill slope) when i coasted into the gas station, i got it to slip into 2nd gear, but when i put my foot to the floor and gave it gas, it pulled like i was off of the clutch. i was pissed. so when i pulled out of the gas station (not able to come to a stop) i hit the throttle to the floor. it threw me back in my seat and squalled the tires. i let of and drove back home at about 15 mph. when i got there, i pulled the drive shaft, cat. and resonator, frame member, and trans. my pressure plate was engaged on one side. as i pulled the pressure plate off, i got showered with pieces of clutch pad. the side that goes against the pressure plate looked like a brand new clutch. the other side was nothing but metal. it did how ever have one little piece of clutch disk left on it that hooked and pulled for a mile and a half. i was amazed. i should not have made it home on that. i will put pics up of the clutch Monday.

also, my brother gave me some wheels. the dimensions of them are 19x8.5 will they fit?
