I think the car looks good, but for a first car an RX-7 might not be a good choice because with that many miles the engine might be ready to pop and if you buy it and it pops you're going to sell out some money to have it replaced, but...

Then again, if you have the money it might be a good investment...

looks good to me, you really can't find a better NA RX-7 than the '88 GTU, IMO. You might think about a 1st gen GSL-SE... those are awesome as well, and probably a bit more reliable and easier to maintain than a 2nd gen, though they don't look anything near as good

Absolutely. That car is incredibly clean, so obviously its been taken care of. Even with the high miles i think it would be a great car. Just check the usual, leaks, clean title, etc.
If it check out i say go for it.

i would buy it for a daily driver if i had an extra 2k laying around or could easily get 2k from a frined/family/bank, the car looks great i give you that but the mileage is high, n/a's are great motors for reliabilty if you buy one that has been taken care of like a rotary and not a piston and it will last a very long time, but you dont know if this cars engine has been babied like the outside and the interior, call a friend or maybe get a forum member you know in the area to go test drive it or ROAD TRIP. just be careful cause some people will say anything to get rid of a car i know cause i was screwed on my first gen.. it was only 680$ but when i dropped the tank and all i found they guy had lied about the rust problem so i could no longer use it as a drag car. good luck and play it smart.

you should also ask if they engine has ever been rebuilt, other than that, if what he says is true, i think its pretty good. But ya it is best to acutally try the car first and check for leaks and what not.

Looks like someone bought it now

Oh well, it wasnt that good of a deal anyways at $1950, IMO. Certainly with 165k its going to be pretty worn out and I would be worried about the motor at that point. I could of checked it out for you, Im pretty close to that location.

Good luck looking. Ebay has some good deals, but be sure to check www.thepartstrader.com , this forum, and www.autotrader.com
