WI Good replacement coil?

I have a question that has been pondering my mind for a while. It all started when my leading coil packs started to go out. I've read somewhere that with performance ECU's one could us LS2 coil packs. My question is if I could use LS2 coil packs with a stock computer. I know that it is theoretically possible, but if someone has already done the math on it (make sure that the return voltage from the primary coil is/close to the same as the stock N/A coil voltage and if the resistance is near the same) cause I can't find the numbers anywere, even on Alldata. The car is an 87 N/A fc3s.

i run 4 bosch - microtech coils in my fc fired off of one fd igniter. my ecu is a wolf 3d 4.0plus. system works very well and there is no need to run a msd or jacobs box with that set up as there is a full strength waisted spark built right in.

Im assuming that the coils are goining out because the spark is very weak out side of the compression chamber and, in theory, it will be almost not existant in the compression chamber where there is much denser air. I have not hooked it up to an ossiliscope to check the voltage pattern yet though.

How much did your set up cost? I'm on a tight budget right now(trying to save up for my wedding, but this is going to be my "get away" car).

kinda sounds like you have some other issues goin on. microtech coils are pretty cheap. just do a google serch to find them. and you can source the fd igniter for 50 to 75 bucks and well the wolf 3-d ya thats pricy at 1400 plus

i doubt you have gone through 2 leading coil packs just trying to diagnose a starting issue.

you have other issues to look for.

I know that I have other issues going on. #1 leading is much worse than #2 though. I wounder about the fuel pressure cause the pump I'm running is out of a Blazer(I'm only using it cause it was free and it worked). But, the specs for that pump are much less than for the RX7 and the pressure check valve is not holding pressure in the system. I was thinking that after cranking it over for awhile that it finally build enough pressure and than bleed out when the injectors open. But that doesn't explain the engine surge...

Thanks for the pricing. I'll look in on it.

it's an n/a though... he's better off diagnosing it than throwing parts at it since it will still be rather slow, especially with too large of a pump.

Yes, I know... It was free and it was well worth the price. The pump puts out about 25 psi(TBI system). The specs on Alldata say that it should be 35psi. I do have stage two Apex seals from Atkins Rotary, if that helps you at all.

How about $45? I'd have to get it some time next week (I'm going to a rally event in St. Louis). Could you PM me you address so I can Map Quest directions?

255 isn't meant for n/a and you downgraded.

to the op. FC coils are the best you can get for a rotary. check your wires and plugs. ditch that pump and find a pick and pull. best bet you could probably get a n/a pump for $10 in the FS section.

the stock FC coils can handle 400hp, you DON'T NEED TO UPGRADE IT.

like everyone else said, get rid of that ghetto fuel pump, and no don't put a 255 in it.

haha oh no, you're forgetting, i got the 5.7. my gf says she likes the size AND what i do with it.

on a productive note. Use the stock FC coils. they are fine for the application. Using ls1 coils has come about before. However there is really no need.

edit: talking about the fuel pump, but same goes for coils
