Is this good or no?

$3000 gets me a JDM motor with 30,000 miles, Apexi SAFC, Apexi Boost Controller, NRG Fuel Pressure Regulator all with install and tuning, plus my Synchros replaced in my tranny? Is that good or what?

Seems way too good to be true. Just the S-AFC and the bosot controller add up to about $800 if new. Replacing the syncros is generally a $600 job at a transmission shop. Several hours of tuning and dyno time would be about $500 or so. Then there's all the labour to remove and reinstall, incidentals (ie. hoses, belts, gaskets, etc.), fittings for the fuel pressure regulator (it doesn't just bolt onto the stock rail) and misc expenses...Well, maybe not too good to be true but it does seem slightly low to me.

Remember that a "JDM" engine is just a J-spec, which is essentially a junkyard engine of unknown quality and mileage (that 30K thing is a bit of a joke as they cannot guarantee the mileage).

Guarantee means nothing if it fails since that means another remove and reinstall, then having to retune the car all over again.

Well he will be testing the motor to find the weakspots and if there are any than he will fix them for free. So its a pretty good deal on the motor I think.

The weak spots with a high mileage engine = apex seals. Meaning a rebuild, which most aren't really willing to do free...

I have known this guy for years and have worked for him in the past. Plus one of my best friends worked for him as well. As for driving, nothing at the moment.

i meant s4 or s5? the install and pricing sounds great. seems like only a good friend could get that kinda pricing. i have a JSPEC and its great. no problems since i installed it over a year ago. just be willing to deal with the BS if that motor is not in good condition. because what aaron cake said is true. he'll install the motor no problem but if its F'd up, just be ready to deal with alot of BS. you might have to wait for another, or you that shop might not honor your friendship.

good luck with it
