gonna run it up the flagpole and see who looks

I'm taking my **** into Maz-tech, (the only mazda specialists in idaho), but i figured i'd pool the near infinite wisdom of these forums....first.

first off i'm paying (still) way too much for this s4. @ $3700. (ouch) it's n/a. it's auto. *cringes waiting for cyberslap* there are two fc's for sale in idaho, mine is better.ha.

okay...

1) sound: one, there is this terribly annoying rattle at low rpm's but not in neutral, ?probably a heat shield of sorts? maybe? anyways, say i'm idling....anywhere= good sound. add the weight of a shoe. (barely) mmmm purrrrrr. anymore pressure to the throttle (its an auto) and the *(exhaust leak?)* becomes much more audible. i'll try and get a clip on youtube to further clarify.....but ......onward.

2)sound cont.: every once in a while, sporadically, not heat oriented nor, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA says the idiot light warning buzzer thingy, and the add coolant light comes on.....and then goes away. i didn't add any coolant!?!?!

3)smoke.....ooooh. the smoke. ****.: i'm already making sound worse than it may or may not be. not a whoosh of smoke. just a wisp. maybe 2 wisps. no one leans away from the center of the car like i just farted and shouts "what the **** is that?!". you might notice it and calmly say, "whoa, what's happening there" to which i would reply "idk" *followed by pulling over and crying* it comes from under the ashtray. i assume because my ashtray is broke out/and/or missing. more just behind the auto shifter box, under the ashtray.

4) tranny. uuuuuh it's an auto. AND... it clunks shifting into first, sometimes it shifts into 2nd way way way way way way way way too fast. way. i just hope it doesn't take my motor with it.

verdict: compression test soon. hopefully helps. uhhhhh. idk. help.

I dont think i could be any help, but your post was kool as hell to read with the sound affects! it reminds me of the old batman cartoons when they would hit and you see POW, WOOSH,BANG flash up. I had a picture of your car doing that while your driving.

I hope you get this worked out. If you have one already why dont you just use this for parts? id take out the LSD (if you have one) from the auto car and put it in your manual.

NA LSD is fine, if your going to manual swap, go ahead and upgrade to a TII transmission from the get go. might as well go with a light flywheel and street/strip clutch too.
