Going Hybrid need advice
I'm currently in Afghanistan till Xmas. I'll have some money set asid for a hybrid project when i get back. here's the deal. i've been doing some research on some piggy pack systems and trying to see what would be a good setup. My mods are listed in my sig. but here are my additions:
BNR stage II
FMIC
720cc secondaries
walbro 255
wideband o2
Fuel system???
the fuel management is what i'm stuck with. from talking with the guys at BNR, they think that my ROM ECU should be sufficient for around 12-13lbs boost (is what i plan on running). i love my ECU but dont trust that it will properly manage the fuel. i've been tossing up a HKS PFC or a SAFCII.
from what i've read, it seems that the SAFCII is a better option as you can actually controll the fuel settings throughout the RPM band, whereas the PFC adjusts it by reading the ECU.
i'm not looking for anything more than around ~300rwhp and think that a standalone is too much for me (money and knowhow). is 12-13lbs going to give me this with a stage II or am i just kidding myself. stage III is too much hp and stage I is debatable. i'll take any flames, advice, opinions anything. i've done my research, i guess i'm just hesitant. thanks guys

I was happy with my S-AFC.
I had the THR signal wired to the boost sensor so the shift to the high map was determined by boost.
That way the fuel correction was more in tune with varying current conditions.
My waste gate was ported, but if the header dump was open, the turbine would still get happy on cold mornings.
That option would better keep up with cold morning boost creep.

You may wanna look into the RTEK 2.0...I know they only work with s4 cars, but I don't know the details of your car. If you can use it, then you'll have alot more features than the S-AFC will give you, without the standalone pricetag

megasquirt sounds like an awesome standalone system and the price is great too. yet i have no knowledge on the system at all and no extra time and money for a dyno tune. i dont think i'm ready for that... are my goals attainable or am i blowing smoke up my own ***.
i think the ROM ECU is comparable to the Rtek. yes it is an S5 TII

Welcome to the forum Peepsalot.
He states in his 1st post a BNR stage 2. Check them out at http://www.bnrturbos.com/
You might read posts a little closer...to avoid being made fun of.

i wont poke fun at all. i'm just looking for some advice and opinions. i plan to do the BNR II but not sure if the setup is going to be worth it or not. i'm curious if anyone has this or a similar setup.

seriously with that if you have an s4 tII motor and ecu then an rtek chip would be the way to go. The 1.7 is nice and then you can just add an safc for fine tuning. thing about the safc is that it doesn't take care of the timming so after 9psi the stock ecu doesn't do anything. The rtek will and it will also put a pretty good tune on those 720 secondaries.
edit: you should be able to get 300 on stage II no problem.

On my S4 tII
Im running:
BNR stage II
Walbro 255 LPH
720cc secondaries
Rtek 1.7
Safc II
Stock intercooler
2.5 DP Gutted main cat HKS cat back
3in intake
and im running 10-11 PSI
im running all this and running rich right now so im going to have to play with Safc a little bit or turn the boost up a little
P.S. The Safc Thr wire is hooked up to the pressure sensor like sure shots.

hell yeah!
thanks Pinfield357. you have pretty much what im shootin for. the ROM ecu has the similarities as the rtek. so if your running a little rich thats great as you can tune your system down some. do you know what kind of numbers your hitting right now and do you plan to go FMIC?
hondahater. thanks to you too man. i noticed you went with BNR and all seemed well. how many #s do you think it'll take to get 300hp? one more thing, i noticed you had a problem with oil in the BNR at first, did the pill in the oil line take care of that? i know that himniracing has an oil feed line with a restrictor/pill already in it. if that's the case, i'll just buy their feed line. hows LA treating you?
