Thumbs up Goin' to the track

Ok Im going to the track in a week. Anyone want to guess what quarter mile times I should expect. Remember it is my first time. I have a stage II street ported motor, DP, Race pipe(for the track), and HKS cat-back, light flywheel, racing clutch, Intake, FCD, Fuel Pump, S-AFC, and the BFG 205/40/16's. I was hoping for mid to low 13's watcha think?
I will post the results to see who came the closest in times. I will have videos on my website.

Oh yeah any tips will help too. Like when to launch, help with the tree, staging, all that sort of thing. Best time to shift for time or mph. With those tires should I burn out long?

Thanks for any help.

Low 13s is possible for you. I'll call your car at 13.4, let me know how close I got, lol. Your not going to really need to do a burnout, street tires are usually hard to get sticky enough to make a difference. Also, most guys will tell you to drop your tire pressure to around 20lbs or so, but I tried that and ran SLOWER, but I also had a worse reaction time that pass...oh well. I can't help w/ the shifting time and such since T2s are different...ya know, the boost thing

yeah I was questioning the tire pressure thing. I understand the concept behind it, but I think that it would only really help with drag tires.

Any one else on times

Have it dyno'd yet live4boost? That will tell you if your near stock 1/4 mile times or you need to do a little tuning/cleaning.

BTW, if its your first time drag racing, you will not do good, normally. Don't be upset if you have a slower time than you thought you should have, it just takes practice, trust me, my first time drag racing I ran a 17.3 and a 17.9....lol, so yea...I was mad, but now I'm getting better, and I've added a few mods...I'm going again in 2 weeks, and I'll post the new times.

The guy b4 me had it dyno'd but all that he told me was the hp. Im kinda broke to get it dyn'd here. It is expensive as hell. I do know that I need it tuned though. I better not be close to stock times or eslse there is something wrong. My only prob. will be the ummm staging tree light thing. What ever the hell it is called.

Hope it helps!

KS

PS: My six ports weren't working, I should be able to dip into the 15's easily now.

I say 14 flat for you. There is no way you will be able to run the car it its full potential your 1st time at the track. I say your car is capable of mid to low 13's with a good driver and a good run. Drag racing is much harder than you might think. Its easy to do, but hard to do well.

The staging tree? Nah you don't need help with that.. Just go up and GUN IT WHEN ITS GREEN!!!!! joke =)

I know the basics... from my IHRA and NHRA games haha..

you do your big smokey burnout... With the cars in my game, I was running a little of 5k horse power.. So the burnouts were pretty easy =) hehe

pull up to the line watching the STAGE lights.. (two sets of yellow lights... 2 on top and 2 below them) the two on top are PRE stage... and the 2 on bottom are STAGE... edge forward slowly until the TOP PRE stage lights turn on .... That means you are REAL close to the start line =) Edge forward little by little till the STAGE (lower 2 yellow lights) turn on... Then you are STAGED and ready to gun it!!!!!

BUT WAIT!!! not YET!!!!

After you are staged... you will see the 3 BIG yellow bulbs and 1 big Green bulb... they go kinda quick, and this is where you will probably stink it up your first couple times at the track.... the top BIG yellow lights go on.. THEN the next yellows below that one.. Then the next yellow one.. THEN GREEN!!!!!
I dunno about real life drag racing, I've never been to drag strip.. But I'm pretty sure they are the same =) Also in my game.. I find that if I drop it at the LAST yellow light, I get a jump right when it turns green... and I get a great reaction time.. (in my game haha)

Ok.. Now for some of you with REAL experience to help him out and point out my mistakes!!

hope this helps..

i say 13.79 as a best time, if you run more than once, if you only do a single run ill say 13.98. i would shift at 7200rpm because your power wont be dropping off until like 8k with your mods. depending on elevation, at sea level i would say drop the clutch at 2800rpm for a best run, anywhere between 2500-3000 would probably work good. let us know how it turns out

I have Nitto Drag Radials on my car.
In testing my launch, I was running 20 PSI with them and still getting horrible wheel hop! I lowered them to 18 PSI, heated them up first, and it made a HUGE difference as far as hooking them up!
If you have Drag Radials, do a good burn out first!
This will be my first time on a track drag racing, so I'm as new to this as you are.
Good Luck!
I will say 13.8
