GODSPEED (real/fake??)
GODSPEED (real/fake??)
hey guys quick question on godspeed intercoolers for 2nd gens.
i just purchased one and thought their "godspeed" name/logo was imprinted on the top of the intercooler so i was surprised that there was NO markings on my intercooler nor the box it cam in that said it was a godspeed unit. does anyone know if they are supposed to have markings or if i was shipped a "no name"?

I went through this same ordeal a few months ago. I bought a "godspeed type M" intercooler off ebay and the one that was shipped to me had no markings. When looked at more closely, the intercooler inlet and outlet sizes were too small, and they were in slightly different locations from the picture. You were most likely shipped a no-name is it is very common with cheaper intercoolers.
post a pic of the intercooler you received, and the link to wherever you bought it from
My authentic godspeed does have a godspeed logo on it

what up badboiii lol... yea ill try to get pics up of it. i wouldnt mind THAT much if the dimentions were as stated for a godspeed but if its smaller like in your case, i would def dispute it.
mean while, does anyone have pictures of the top of their godspeed intercooler (if thats where the logo is located) for me and badboi to refrence from? cause thats real shitty that some retailers are shafting us out there.
im sure a no name brand works as well if not the same as a GS since their not a performance "brand name" themselves but i could have just went for a no name for 50-100 cheeper-_-

its not about flaunting. it is inexpensive (400-500) compared to say a greddy but since a lot of people looking for an affordable intercooler have gone with GS, its pretty much a trusted unit. i had the choice of paying 300 for a no name or 400 for a GS thats been tried and trusted so i paid the extra bone for it. thats why if its any off the shelf intercooler that im not "sure" about then im obviously not going to be satisfied...

Oh noez! Somebody swapped your authentic cheap Chinese Ebay intercooler with a fake cheap Chinese Ebay intercooler! Those underhanded bastages!
Seriously, what's the difference as long as it works?

and because your so respectful/mature i felt the need return the favor and ask your mother to blow me
THANKS!
i thought it would be stamped.. some of their intercoolers are stamped with their logo for other cars. maybe its not for the FC since i cant seem to find a good clear picture of one specifically made for the 2nd gen.. either way its at JPR Imports and the mechanic says it looks like a good unit to use.
You see, Godspeed is not a high-end name brand, but rather a cheap Chinese off-brand that is known to sell cheap copies that try to look like name-brand parts. Therefore, we are finding humor in your situation because it seems that you are upset that you may have been shipped a cheap Chinese knock-off, when in fact that is exactly what you ordered. It would be similar to if you ordered a Molex watch that looks like a Rolex, and then you were upset that it didn't have "Molex" engraved on it and then wondering if you got a fake Molex.
The point here is that you ordered a cheap Chinese part, and that seems to be exactly what you received. As long as it fits and doesn't leak, you should be happy. While I can understand that some people would want a shiny name brand like GReddy or HKS stamped on their performance parts to add to the bling factor, most people who are concerned about making a good impression would prefer a flat polished intercooler to one with a cheapie name brand stamped on it.
Oh, one other thing, now is a good time to install a new thermostat while the coolant is drained. Make sure you get an OEM style bypass thermostat with a jiggle pin. See the factory service manual for pictures and procedures, and be sure to follow the torque specs for the thermostat cover in Chapter 30 so you don't ruin the parts.

You guys really don't get how ridiculous this whole thread sounds. Worried about getting a knock off of a knock off.

My point is, one may not be able to afford or justify spending on a Greddy (Rolex/Channel) but like thousands on this forum, may want a tried and trusted unit like Godspeed (Fossil).
I didnt dispute that im a "noob" when it comes to this product or else i wouldn't be on this forum like million others asking these kind of questions but at least im not an idiot making comparisons of things they know nothing about. Now im not sure if its made in china or not but at least its a brand with an address in THE USA and a contact number for information or warranty purposes ect. I'm very happy for you that you know how to pick up a book and read a chapter or two and convey your knowledge in such a helpful manner to someone asking a simple question. And obviously the others that agree with him are just as intelligent cause the FC rx7s wernt styled after a Porsche 944. Guess you would all leave a Porsche dealership happy with a re bagged rx7.
OK, I guess I need to explain the whole thing since you are a noob...

left to right: $115 fossil modeled after a $10,000 Breitling, $10,000 Chanel, $98 Fossil.
for those here who thought ignorance was somehow funny... my "cheapo" fossil and my girlfriend's watches... I'd be as stupid as you if i paid one hundred dollars for a fake "PHossil" and was fine with it because its styled after another more expensive brand anyways. What sense does that make...
