The glass fell out of my mirror.
The glass fell out of my passenger side mirror.
Are there any options besides getting a glass shop to custom cut glass for it? I'll make a bet they can't match the blue tint and I am damn sure not buying a whole new assembly!

You might be surprised. Most German cars from that era used the same blue tinted glass. It's possible you could even get the slightly convex piece. If it's a little off, just get both sides. It sounds like the original glass broke, so you may find yourself removing the other side to use as a template anyway. Unfortunately, I can't think of a single good glass shop down there (I never had much of a need for the more involved glass work until I got up here). My car club is massive and numerous though, and someone might know a good place. I can ask around if you'd like. I'd just about guarantee I get at least one solid recommendation.

I had glass fall out of the mirrors of both an older 626 we had about a dozen years ago, and VW Passat - it was actually easy to get replacement mirrors from a glass shop, as I recall. I think my pockets were lightened to the tune of $25 or so, but it's a pretty vague recollection.

Jackhild gave me a link to the last piece of factory glass in the USA. Ordered it!
Now how the hell do I glue it back onto the housing?
