Give me some clutch & flywheel suggestions
I am going to relace my flywheel and clutch soon. What I want is a lightweight steel flywheel, I dont want to go too light. Unless you guys suggest otherwise. What I am thinking of getting is a RB lightwieght flywheel. For the clutch I am up in the air. I am wondering if I need to get a stronger pressure plate or if I should just go with an upgraded clutch only. The centerforce systems are priced well, but then again some people say they suck *** (but then again those people are generally running turbo cars with much higher horsepower than I). I know SR motorsports has a combo with a ACT clutch and aluminum flywheel for a decent price, but I just don't think that I want to go with the aluminum. So what do you guys think? Is there anywhere special to get a good deal on clutches/flywheels? Thanks guys.

$700, an excellent deal on a 9.5# flywheel and a good street and strip clutch. You can't find any better than that, very good price.

I have seen the deal at srx7.com but I am concerned that the flywheel would be too light. I still want good streetability. That is why I was thinking lightened steel. Who here has a aluminum flywheel? How did it change your drivability when just cruising along, starting off from a stop, etc?

Yeah...
I ordered my racing beat 17lbs light steel flywheel, and ACT street/strip disc w/ extreme pressure plate from Jason. He gave me excellent prices, which were complimented with an annoying wait (due mostly to ACT's computer systems being hit w/ a virus). I would recommend getting the same setup as I'm getting if you aren't looking into aluminum flywheels. My roomate has a street/strip clutch/pp, and aluminum flywheel through SR, and he loves the flywheel, but wishes the PP and clutch grabbed a bit harder. To avoid this myself, I decided to get an exteme pressure plate instead =). I should be picking the stuff up soon (assuming ACT gets it's act-no pun intended-together), and I can let you know how it works out for me =)

I bought the 11 lb SR alum. flywheel thinking the 9.5 might be too light. Well, after my TID mod my unadjusted idle was 350 rpm and the engine idled very smoothly; I definitely could have gone w/ 9.5 lb. The HD pressure plate was quite heavy, mabye this added to flywheel weight? I am very happy w/ the quality and performance of the unit, so beautiful it is a shame to put it in the bellhousing (red anodized alum. w/ machined lettering).

I've chosen for the 13BT:
-ACT ProLite chromium-molybdenum steel flywheel
-ACT Xtreme plate
-ACT organic disc
...includes new bearings, seals, flywheel counterweight, totals near $800, some taxed, some shipping fee.

damn i did think Soul was back!
I had a 17lbs RB steel light unit, with CF dual friction clutch......Not a single problem with it. 5k clutch drops, and it was still good. Ultimately I wrecked the car, and got another one, with the current set up.

I believe all 9.5 lb flywheels are weight without the counterweights on. Therefore, all 9.5 lb flywheels should be about 11 lbs (racing beat measures with the counterweight on). I have the RB aluminum flywheel and a centerforce DF clutch. The combo is very streetable.
