i love it, if i had the money to blow i would get one. (another local whose car i am working on has the kit)

the signature 'roots blower' whine it produces really makes things interesting at stop lights....

dumb?, what exactly does this kit do? is it for power? better pumping? is this pretty much the same thing as a underdrive pulley kit from UOR?

it is an underdrive kit and eliminates the possibility of belt slippage since it is a cog and groove type of belt much like a timing belt.

similar yes but not the same, it just looks mean bolted onto the engine much like a blower drive belt.

the mazda racing pulleys only come in Vbelt and serpentine belt configurations not the lug and groove style as the Gilmer kit.

I have this kit. It doesn't underdrive anything. IF anything it overdrives the alt, but just by a little. I pull 13.5-14.0 volts at idle. The only purpose is to keep the belt from slipping. Elimates water cavatation due to belt slip. Also looks badass, v8 guys look at it and try to find the supercharger.

I'll post pics but i'm not sure how.

Because it won't be able to produce full output at low speeds and idle. Think of sitting at an intersection with the defog, heater and headlights on, staring at a red light, while watching your voltmeter slowly drop...

Belt slip doesn't cause cavitation. Cavitation occurs when the water pump spins to fast for the impeller. It's designed to pump primarily at low RPMs, so at high RPMs the impeller just tends to churn the water instead of actually move it.

i don't believe the Gimler kit is an underdrive, the diameter of the pulleys looks close to stock but i did not take measurements.

I second this, i'm sure if it was underdrive it's be stated in the product description, which it isn't, this a neat kit, i might have to pick one up, id have to give up A/C and P/S though it seems, not that my AC works right now anways, in the arizona heat . . .
