Unhappy The ghost in the machine has returned!!

I was going to use weird electrical problem but Leo beat me to it! I have a 91 vert that is pretty much stock in that there are no fancy stereo systems or anything. It does have an aftermarket steeing wheel (quick disconnect) with both of the blue Ford air bag modules removed from under the dash.

When I first start the car in the morning it will run great for about 2 minutes and then I start hearing a clicking sound from the dash. The tach starts bouncing and then the car starts running real bad and will usually stall. After it stalls I go to restart the engine and I get nothing, the starter doesnt engage as if no power is going to it. I can push start the car with no problem (manual tranny). This all started a couple days ago and is progressivly getting worse.

My first thought was a starter relay of some kind is going bad. But then tonight was a real weird one. It died again but this time the warning buzzer came on and the tach started bouncing around the 9k area while the engine was dead. To add to the fun this all lasts for about 5 minutes and then it will run fine the rest of the day unless the car sits for about 5 hours.

I tried pulling the dash apart but I didnt see any obvious relays behind the instrument cluster. Is it possible that the problem is in the tach itself? Any other ideas of what would cause this behavior? Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

TIA,

Devdude

check the the lines. It sounds like it might be fused lines, or an open connection. hope you have time to hunt it down. My car did something similiar once it didn't start-no clicks-nothing, just turned the key and it didn't run at all. this was odd since it was running fine 20 minutes earlier. spent 30-minutes going over all the fuses and checking lines and everything. tried once more and it started. haven't had a problem since.
