Alright,

This is an 89 S5 NA.

It will start up fairly quick but once it starts it shoots up to around 4 - 5k until I shut it down manually. Then upon restart it will jump to around 2-3k and if I keep hitting the gas it will stay running but will die if I let off.

The only other thing it is doing while I am hitting and releasing the gas is extremely large backfires out of the tailpipe. I didn't see but someone else said they did see flames upon these large explosions of backfires.

Now I know flames happen as they run rich but trying to figure out if the problems could relate to it as well.
