Do you mean the big bolt in the center of the hub?
You have to use a punch to knock the staked part of the nut out of the groove in the half shaft. Place a pry par between two of the wheel studs with one end of the pry bar on the ground (to prevent the hub from spinning). Then get your big socket and a breaker bar and pull f-ing hard or jump on the breaker bar

To actually get the shaft out of the hub, haynes says to use a puller... I used a piece of wood and a big hammer to knock it out of the hub on my protege.. I don't know if will do any damage to the axle, but I didn't care cause its was being sent in as a core return

I dont care about the axle, i am putting in turbo axles, because when i broke the output shaft on my rear end, i went and got a new one, they goofed up at the salvage yard and gave me a lsd rear from a 87 turbo. So i decided to keep it, now if i can get the nut loose gggrrrr....i also got the flange on the front from my old rear it it doesnt fit where the old one is i am going to have a shop machine new hole on the old turbo flange...just a big pain in the *** but hey i think its worth it!
