getting under your car

Ive always wondered, How do you guys who have so many mods and do them all yourselves seem to be able to get under the car and have enough room to move around? Do you use tall ramps or jack it up real high? the ramps im using give you a nice amount of space, but not enough to 'really' get under the engine bay and the middle of the car (driveshaft, cat, transmission).

If you have a hydrolic lift..dont bother answering

I use a floor jack and some heavy duty jackstands on a level area.
It gets it about a foot and a half of the ground. Still a little tight

I need to get one of those creepers so I can slide underneath the car instead of inching on my back

A creeper will help you move around, but it will also subtract about three inches of moving space. Sometimes that three inches is enough to get the job done. I use a large jack, 2 1/2 ton, and as many jack stands as you can get under there. If you really need to get her up; jack up all corners and use alot of jack stands. You can also put a piece of wood on the jack to raise it further than it usually would.

I got one of those creepers with the platform dropped down so it only takes away about 1-1/2".

Where do you guys usually put the stands? I've been putting them right along the outer edge of the weld rail with a small piece of wood on top of the stand to spread the load.
