Getting the 90' Coolant Hose on...

What tool did you use to squeeze the clamp so you could move it down on the hose?

I got the hose on, that wasn't too hard. But I can't fit any tool, or SEE what I'm doing with tools that do fit...

I can't believe that little clip is holding me back!!!

I've tried a bunch of tools, maybe I just need smaller hands?

How did you do yours?

get a small hose clamp from a parts store. get a 1/4" drive with a screwdriver handle, get a 1/4" wobbly and a 1/4" socket. the rest should be pretty self explanatory.

Get a longer hose. clamp it on before you bolt the upper manifold to the lower.

You know, I have them... and I was just hoping it'd be easier with the clamp style 'cause it's still hard as hell to get the wobbly in there... I hate those things, I suck at using them lol.

I already installed ANOTHER hose once... but it was a fuel hose, and it wasn't shaped... I thought it'd be good to put on a NEW hose better than the old shaped hose...

But since it's not shaped it pushed off too easy... so I guess now I'll use the shaped hose, and one of the 6mm socket clamps I have. =/

Oh well... looks like that's what I'll go do right now! Thanks heh

I replaced it with this hose design...

Interesting.. How'd you get it to bend sideways like that? heh

I just had mine running straight up... and it leaked out the front (using engine rotor orientation, which means towards the front of the engine) side of the hose... which probably means I didn't put it on well enough, and the clamp was probably not on straight... etc etc. It wasn't EXPLODING but it was leaking enough to smoke.

What do you mean sideways? I used a 3/8" fuel line hose. It just makes a loop before pointing down. At first I tried using a hose just slightly longer than the original, in the original position, but I still couldn't get enough working space to get it fully tight. Now it's no problem at all. That extra loop gives me plenty of space to work with.

Yeah, 3/8" fuel line works great. I used a pair of pliers on the block side and a screwdriver for the manifold side. I have one of those funky round screwdrivers for jobs like that.

Don't even bother with the stock squeeze clamps, just replace them with screw clamps. It's much easier to get a screwdriver or small socket under the UIM that a pair or pliers and your hand.

well you can get in there with a 45 degree or 90 degree pair of needle nose pliers but it is still a pita to get it on.

In Sunland... you know where that is?

That's about the only thing to do right now... I've given up because I couldn't for the LIFE of me get that hose OFF last night to put a different clamp on! lol. So I have a suspition the hose clamp when I was messing around with it somehow DID get on there...

So either it will be nice and work, or when the hot water starts to run through it, it will leak... in which case I'll stop the car yet again and pull it off while it's stilll loose from the heat... and start the process of getting a clamp in there somehow all over again.

Although I'm thinking if the car wasn't 3 ft off the ground it could be easier to reach in there... so if it does come off I'm going to bleed the brakes out and put the wheels on and put it down...

Sunland is over an hour away from me If you were closer i'd help you out but thats to much gas for me But yeah its been a pain, just take the manifold off, it'll go by quicker. If you need a reference you can use the picture i just took while my manifold was off, lol! a mess huh? This is the hose your talking about right? It might be dirty but EVERY hose has been changed even the 50 dollar spider

They are also a lot more reliable, you can put them on tighter so they're less likely to suffer a failure (don't over do it though) and they don't wear out with repeated use like the springy ones. I keep a bag of a few of every size in my toolbox.
