Get OEM molded hose, or cut-to-length?

Obviously for some things (like the heater-to-block on the driver's side with lots of bends) both common sense and some searching have indicated that getting the molded hose is far better. But for the coolant hoses that run to/around the BAC and the other heater core hose (passenger side from firewall down to pipe on the frame to the rad.) that don't have lots of complex/sharp bends, are the molded hoses that much of a necessity, or can I just as effectively (and much more cheaply) get the right size hose from my local auto parts store and run it myself?

Well, making the bends for the left side hose can be difficult, they're quite tight.

Using a straight hose forces you to route it differently......

But you CAN use either, its just a matter of preference vs. cost - and you're going to have to answer that yourself.
