I love these threads!

Not gonna say much, but....

My car lost 70lbs in the front end, and gained an *** load more torque.

The end.

Great. You fucked up the weight distribution and cant keep 1st gear from eating another set of tires.

Keep it in the family, I say. Whats wrong with a F-body? Why destroy another RX-7?

WHAT THE ****?!?!?

It's kinda nice to be back in a car with enough power to give me a challenge again. No amount of power is to much for a good driver!

Oh my god, I seem to have screwed up my weight distribution in the wrong direction. Damn! Oh well.

F-Body? I've restored (& LOVED) several early '70 Formula Firebirds. They're way to quick to waste time here.

I think THEWRONGMOTOR.COM Has one of the nicest setups I am aware of.
I didn't say conversions, or RX-7s.
I mean overall.
That is one sweet car.
How anybody can bad mouth it 'in theory' without knowing about it is beyond me.

You obviosly know nothing about the rotary engine. They can produce excellent power with porting/turbo. Sure a V8 can kick out a lot of power, but for the money you spent on this conversion you could probably have spare engines lined up in your garage.

If you LOVE F-bodys so much then KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY

Hey Matt, how much do you think that **** weighs?

Air pump - 10 lbs

Air Control Valve - 2 lbs

EGR Valve - 2 lbs

A/C (just the compressor actually) - 15 lbs

And no Power Steering FROM THE FACTORY BITCH

Dont forget the covertor...**** thats like 15-20 lbs. But since it was in the lowest most centered point in the car that doesnt count, right?

Just ****** wit ja

oh wow, what an assumption! You have no idea who this guys is! He knows PLENTY about rotaries.
Yeah for the money he has in his conversion, he'll be able to race/daily drive his LS1 for years to come, and not have to have engines lined up in his garage like most rotary racers Have too!

Ok ok, you got me. I guess if I had more money Id get rid of this POS rotary and get a REAL engine, right? A baaaad *** LS1 with over 300 hp stock!!!!! ****, with a little work I could have 400 no prob, right?

NO, BITCH! If I wanted a V8 in my car I would buy a Z28. 6-speed. T-tops. Ohh yeah.

hey thats great, its your opinion. And we're not really trying to "convince you to get a REAL engine and put her in the ol 7", we're just want to help out the thread starter, but "rotary purists" keep comin on in and tellin us how BAAAAAAAAAD we are! I know the rotary is great, and unique at that! But I want a little import, with a big american engine, at this time in my life, in MY car... ok?

Ok. Lets say you have a microwave oven that takes 5 min to pop a bag of popcorn. Works for you but youd like something FASTER. Then your friend offers to sell his microwave to you (humor me). You do a test run (with popcorn) and it only takes 3 min. Damn!! What do you do? Swap the guts from his into you old one? No!!! **** no!! You use it. Just the way it is.

Please explain the logic behind this conversion. F-bodys handle good. Solid rear axle kind of sucks for handling, but other than that, WHAT?

Sorry for this rant I know its all been said 1000 times but gotta take it out on someone.....

weight, looks, handling, the idea of import+american=different, theres countless other reasons. I'm really just hooked on a FC, and don't want a beastly, hunk of F-body.

UHm, no ones saying the rotary is a POS. I for one like the rotary much more than any V-8. But that fact is that with a V-8 you can make the car much faster , and still have the huge aftermarket and potential of a V-8. No one is saying the car will be "better" in any way, but just faster and cheaper. Im not sure if I will do the swap or not, but its not a bad idea.

Bitch <---inserted smiley to imply humor, as to not **** people off.....

I will take your question at face value.
There are a lot of reasons that could apply.
1) Now please don't take this as a attack on the rotary, but I was tired of getting abused at the Mazda dealer (and aftermarket suppliers)
for expensive engine parts.
2) I spent too much time repairing my rotary, after modifying it to go fast.
3) I like to go fast, reliably.
4) I like the way the RX-7 looks and drives.
5) Pride in doing a quality conversion.
6) Not so I could **** you off, but because I wanted the car that way.
7) I have built 3 V8 RX-7's for less than the price of 1 F-body.
8) And I can beat any F body I have ever seen that is streetable. I'm sure there are some out there that are faster than me, but if so, they have a lot more money in their cars than I do.
9) Oh, and well, I don't like the way GM builds their bodies and interiors.

Most importantly, it pleased me to do it.

Im not bashing anyone personally. It just honestly amazes me that so many people like the idea of an RX7 w/a V8.

How about a 300ZX or Supra? Theyre bad *** sports cars with good handling and very ******* expensive to rebuild their engines. Perfect match!!

For me, theres just something about having 400 less parts (close enough) in my engine, a 7000 RPM redline (give me porting and ill hit 9000), and (with the right exhaust of course) the most pissed off, insane sounding engine on the street. I say that because Champ cars and F1 has the best note from the pipes Ive ever heard.

Oh yeah and the look on peoples faces when I shoot a 2 foot flame out the tailpipe!!

Someone has a potty mouth!

I've been driving very, very, quick rotary powered RX7's since 1991........BITCH

Watch what you say about someone not knowing about rotary engines next time.

I'm new to the LS1 V8 game actually. NOT RX7's, or rotary engines......BITCH

(Hey everybody, do I sound like a bad *** using BITCH like that?)
