Gen 2. make it do 10's.. help

Hey guys,

I own a T2 that i am currently building for Road and Race use.

I'm running a S6 13B fully race prepped.. Dowelled, ported, 3mm seals, oil system mods.
with a Garrett TA51 and all appropriate support systems..
expectations are 400RWHP on Pump Fuel
over 500 on Race Fuel with high boost levels and 75 shot of NOS

My big Question. are in the general prep of the car..

susceptable area's of breakage/problems..

I hope that you can help me out.

when building a full race drag car, you can pretty much throw away the book of ordinary failures and breakages. Stuff will break, weird stuff with happen. Diffs, halfshafts, trannies, especially over the 450HP mark. Drag racing is VERY hard on drivetrains. You can pretty much count on breaking a diff or halfshaft if your using the stock ones and on wrinkle wall tires. Racing aint cheap.

sounds like a cool project

The diff will stand up to that as long as it is an S4 TII diff.

As for the rest like he said, it's really not that predictable.

Why such a large turbo if you plan on only making 500rwhp?

You're gonna have to worry about the stock half shafts, diff mount and the tranny. Have a place make some chromoly half shafts for you, get a guru tranny, weld your diff in.

why such a large turbo?? potential for more..

I don't really set a ceiling on power figures..
if I can make more with my combination then that's good.
alot of other cars in Aust. using similar turbo's are only making that sorta HP.

I have alway's known that the Rear end would be a hassle.

we have a ford 9" available here in Australia that utilises the IRS.. but it's pretty costly..

I've also had thoughts about using an automatic transmission. but I do love having a manual and the car is to be street driven with relative regularity.
just that the Auto is more forgiving on the Diff assembly as has been evidenced by a friends S5 that has ran 10.3 1/4 with Standard rear w/cusco LSD hat and a Ford C4 Trans.
