Gear ratios...

I was just wondering, what are the gear ratios on the 89 vert, auto, and stick, if i just asked something that doesnt make sense im sorry cuz im a noob =P

1989 Vert - Auto
1st - 2.841
2nd - 1.541
3rd - 1.000
4th - 0.720

Reverse - 2.400
Final Drive - 4.100 (Coupes had a 3.909 final drive, the vert needed a little bit of help due to the extra weight)

1989 Vert - Manual
1st - 3.475
2nd - 2.002
3rd - 1.366
4th - 1.000
5th - 0.697

Reverse - 3.493
Final Drive - 4.100

I thought all verts were 3.9 ?

Only the '88 and '91 (and there is occassionally some disagreement on the '91) had the 3.9 no matter what tranny.

the 89-90 had the 4.1 no matter what tranny.

does that ratio have anythign to do with how SLOW auto verts are? just curious

Haha, yea it does have an effect (Felix...you crack me up)...but it's still auto. If the gear ratio was changed it'd help, but not as much as converting to a manual.
