Gauges not working

The fuel level gauge and boost gauge in my Turbo II don't work. Is this a common problem? Is there a way to figure out if it's a problem with the cluster, or if the senders are bad? I appreciate any help, I've never had to deal with gauges that don't work.

As far as the fuel gauge is concerned if you go to the plug in the rear of the car that plugs into the fuel pump pigtail you will find the rear harness has four wires and one of them is White/Green. W/key to on and this wire grounded the gauge needle will climb to the top of the range showing that the gauge itself is okay. If it behaves as such then the sending unit in the tank is likely the problem.

The Boost sensor has a Blue/White wire which feeds into pin 2B at the ECU and this wire splits off and also goes to the gauge cluster. W/key to on this wire should be close to 2.5 volts at the sensor and at the Boost gauge also. There is also a Black/Blue wire, which is connected to the gauge, and I believe it comes from the 5th gear switch though I might be wrong on this account, but if correct it would read below 1.5 volts when not in 5th gear, otherwise it would read 12 volts. Not sure if this is the wire that would be grounded temporarily w/key to on to check the functionality of the gauge or not so I would wait for others like Hailers to chime in on this one.

As far as grounding out the wire such as the one suggested w/the fuel gauge and that is "it should be grounded very briefly" just to check if the needle moves properly and constant grounding of the wire will likely damage the gauge so take this into account.
