Gauges dont work

The gauges in my friend car broke. All of them. At first just the gas gauge broke. Then all of them died. The gaugers arent lit either. Does anybody know what wire supplies power to the cluster. I dont want to find a cluster if I dont have too. Thanks

Irv can't help?

check to see if the "meter" fuse is alright. if its not, and it blows again after replacing, try unhooking the sensor connectors under the car on the transmission. they get power from the same circuit, and I know a few people (including myself) have had problems with them.

if thats not it, then I cant think of anything else w/ out more info

THe way I fixed my gauges was to remove the cluster, and tighten all the screws. That seemed to clear up all the problems.

The 89 FSM I have sucks. The wire diagrams dont make much sense. There are parts in the diagram for automatic transmission, and boost gauge. My friends car doesent have either. I think it could be the black wire with a yellow stripe, but I am not sure. I need somebody with a better FSM.

Its not the screws. I dont think the whole cluster is getting any power. Nothing works. Does anybody know if the black wire with a yellow stripe is the right one.

well the gauges get their power from the blk/Yel, but if the parking lights on do not light the gauges then your problem is probably the ground wire, or a connector has come undone, not the power in.

The ground is the solid black by the way and there are two.
